DP and I have reached that 'exciting' stage of our relationship where it's mostly staying in with a box set Grin. We're skint, wanting to ttc in the not too distant future, so generally trying to save with lots of staying in.

Before I met him I was rubbish at watching TV, decent tv anyway, I did (and still do) have a weekly 'crap telly' night with my best friend where we watch the stuff other people judge us for! So I haven't seen most of the big ones that everyone in the staff room will be talking about.

I've started Mad Men and Orange Is The New Black in the past, enjoyed both but life got on the way and so they got abandoned, wouldn't mind going back to either but he's not keen.

He's seen (and doesn't want to re watch) Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Prison Break, The West Wing

We've watched together Whitechapel (I loved, he didn't seem that fussed), Suits (both loved though I was bored by series 3-4), Making of a Murderer (not sure 'enjoyed' is the right word but it was very good), and are working our way through Game of Thrones now which he had seen but was happy to rewatch.

I get the honour of choosing the next one. What shall I go for?

My favourite tv is generally British detective stuff - Morse, Lewis, Endeavour, Broadchurch, Sherlock.

Any recommendations please?

Luther? Or not British but similar to your criteria ... The Killing, The Bridge, The Following.

Line of duty (BBC corrupt cop drama - 2 series and third on TV now) Very very good

Elementary (US up to date version of Sherlock with Johnny Lee MIller and Lucy Liu based in New York, surprisngly good- my DH loves Conan Doyle Sherlock books (and Jeremy Brett era series) and likes this better than BBC version with Cumberbatch. There are 7 seasons

The Good Wife (My DH turned up his nose at first butafter 2 episodes loved it - lawyer drama)7 seasons

The Sopranos (give it a few episodes) Really draws you in to their universe.

The Americans (spy family in 1980's America - 2nd episode better than pilot)

Damages (one case and lots of backstabbing and intrigue per series)with the amazing Glenn Close

Vikings - is its own little universe like Game of Thrones. It gets better as the series progresses.

The Fall is another good British drama.

The Affair is also good - though I've stalled a bit on the second series.

For comedy, there's not much better than Modern Family.

Ooh yes the Fall! I remember thinking I wanted to watch that, will add to the list.

I suggested the Sopranos and he has seen it but is happy to rewatch. I'd quite like to watch something new to both of us next time, but I do definitely want to see this.

Homeland is SO good. We can't stop watching it and talk about it when we're not watching. I think the acting is brilliant and the story hooked me in straight away.
