just wondering. cant find where to contact the beeb.

they use Makaton for Something special so why use the ''proper'' (For want of a better word) one on weekends in the afternoons to accompany a prog?

isn't that confusing?

my DC uses Makaton and gets too distracted by the signing people (although I think its great they do that, they should do that on CBBC).

and especially when you get someone like Mister Maker who says about 100 words in 2 seconds!

In an ideal world there would be a choice of BSL or Makaton by the red button but deaf children would usually be being brought up using BSL, not Makaton so signed programming would be in BSL as standard.

something shop special is a program for children with learning difficulties. The signing, just like the signing on adult tv, the holyoaks omnibus etc is for the deaf.

Deaf children are likely to learn BSL, not Makaton - Makaton isn't a language in itself, it is meant to accompany spoken language.
