I watched both episodes...the dance teacher is a nutjob, the mums are bitches and the poor kids have far too much pressure piled on them!

Actually I'm surprised the kids aren't better, they are there from 4-10 every night, and although they are good I didn't think they were amazing iykwim? They all looked wrecked and like they need a good night's sleep :(

The teacher doesn't look like she has ever danced a step in her life Confused

I was expecting Abby Lee to be awful from what ice been reading in US based dance websites but actually she's not that bad. The "mins" are appalling though

I agreed the costumes were inappropriate but done of the other stuff (kid kicked out for wearing socks and t shirt in acro class) and her expectations of behaviour backstage and in the hotel are nothing I haven't done with my own dd. the mothers are far far worse than Abby IMO except for maybe Nia's mum.

This is an elite company team not recreational confidence building dancers. You learn by corrections.

There has been heavy editing including of results according to dance teachers in the US who actually attended these comps.

I just wanted to do a bra intervention on the teacher Grin

That dance with the 2 piece costumes and provocative moves was truly inappropriate and that alone would have me removing my kid from her school.

I don't care how much editing was done - the pyramid system was disgusting and I was expecting to hate the mums but I felt sorry for them that they thought this was an acceptable environment for their kids to be in.

Apparently the pyramid system was only done when the cameras were brought in.

I as going to say that. The pyramid was an invention of the production company

There is a reason we don't do comps.

I've seen most of the later series on youtube Blush My excuse is that DFD used to do competitive dancing in the US, and as I understand it it's on a different scale to anything you get here so I'm watching it to find out what she's talking about.

Most of the competition results are fabricated by Lifetime Hmm DFD tells me the competitions they go to are not the well-regarded ones which attract top young dancers across the country, because these ones don't let the cameras in. The smaller, lesser known ones want the publicity so allow Lifetime to film. Reign Dance Productions (the real name of Abby's studio) has been banned from a number of these competitions now for falsifying results when they air the episodes on TV- this has been going on from the start, in many of the season 1 episodes in which Maddie beats Chloe on the show, if you look up the results of the competition you'll find that they weren't even competing in the same age division, and that most of the time Chloe won in the junior division (her real age group). They just edit it in the final cut to stir up the drama.

Sounds dodgy marina. The dance teacher seems nuts to me but then, ime most dance teacher are not nice, well adjusted people. I feel sorry for the children who get caught up in all the rows.
