Help! Teenage son 36" leg

CoisFarraige · 11/02/2020 17:32

Hoping the collective wisdom of Mumsnet will be able to help here! Tried this in the Clothes section but no replies! I've a tall, thin 16 year old DS. So around 30-32 waist but with 36" inside legs! I can get jeans reasonably easily but struggle with tracksuit bottoms/joggers as most 'tall' ranges are also 'big & tall' so the waists are huge. Nike and Adidas have tall ranges but leg length is too short with the smaller waist. Needless to say, he really only wants to wear tracksuit bottoms - the best place I have found is a Scottish company 2tall.com who have their own brand and that's what he is wearing for school t-suit and home. They are great but to be honest, I am fed up looking at him in the same clothes all the time - a few different colours but still! Lots of websites say 'long' but IF you can find the leg length it is usually 34" at most.
Love to shake up his wardrobe a bit - it's like a uniform at the moment.
Anyone got any suggestions?

I use ASOS tall men range for Ds. Joggers are long enough for him and not too big on the waist.

Have you tried Topman? I think they do a an extra long leg length which is a 36?

I can recommend ASOS tall range too for 36 inch leg length

ASOS and Next are the best for tall, skinny boys/men. DS1 is 16, 6’5, 10 stone & has a 31” waist. Tracksuit bottoms haven’t been an issue (although he prefers brands - but after the Nike tall are are 34” leg at most). Jeans are a massive issue though, I haven’t found any acceptable ones which are made in tall & skinny?

I see so many kids about with a similar frame but no luck so far (much the same as clothing manufacturers assume all tall women are also frumpy they seem to assume all tall men are ‘big’, so frustrating!).

Asos tall, and we scan TKMaxx for long trousers from various obscure brands.

Uniqlo ?

Thanks, I will check out ASOS, Uniqlo, Topman etc. I have found that Jack and Jones do 36" leg jeans, and a few others. I can't understand why they make a choice of jeans to fit tall skinny men but not tracksuit ends. Even one or two styles per brand would help!

Hi, I used this site to order stuff for my daughter’s boyfriend. Not cheap, but.... up to a 38” inside leg.

Soz, didn’t see you’d used them! 😂

Levi's do long leg jeans - my brother has the same problem.

This is so annoying, particularly when they want to wear Adidas and Nike type stuff.

We have had more luck with the "skinny fit" joggers as sometimes you can size up to get the leg length and they still fit around the waist. Or they can be worn more low slung but on the hips, not with half your arse showing Grin

TK Maxx is good as the Sizes No One Else Wants turn up their regularly.

ASOS tall
NIKE tracksuit bottoms work for my 16 year old DS 6’3’ with 36 inside leg.

DH is 6'3 with the worlds skinniest waist/legs. Only place he has found that have suitable tracksuit pants/joggers is SikSilk.

Hannah9176. Snap DS is 6’ 3’ 36’ inside leg and really a 28 waist but he can wear a 30 waist with a belt.

Try Gap.
A tall friends is slim build with 36" inside leg and he always wears Levi's. He doesn't wear joggers, sorry.
Another tall friend gets stuff from High & Mighty but he is not so slimly built - not fat just in proportion.

Yes, got a great bargain pair if Levi's in M&M direct - you can search by leg length on that site which is a rare treat!
I'll check Siksilk out. Some sites say over 5ft 9 = tall but no leg length given. Others have no small waists left in the tall ranges. The search continues... our tkMaxx has thrown up two long joggers over the years but they were the 'baggyarse-after-wearing-for-two-hours' variety. Nothing else so far. Thanks everyone.

Try starting a thread in Style & Beauty asking 'Inside leg 36" joggers for slim DS', someone will know.

ASOS are great for jeans/school trousers. I know what you mean about Adidas/Nike, DS has just resigned himself to wearing them a bit short now. I got him one pair for Christmas and they were ridiculous so had to go back!

Glad I found this thread. DS currently has 34” inside legs on his trousers and is rolling them up- it seems that the fashion with his friends is to have them flapping in the breeze around their ankles. This is great because I didn’t know where I could get longer than a 34” leg and they are all too short for him!
We need to find non jeans as he isn’t allowed to wear jeans to explorers 😬

Yes thanks to all. DS allowed to wear jeans/joggers to school.
He is 13 with 6ft 4 with 29inch waist. Delighted got 2 pairs of Extreme skinnny jeans in the Hollister sale. 34inch leg but seem longer.
But tracksuit bottoms are a problem. I find Nike tall hit and miss as they are only an extra inch in length. Will look on ASOS

Levi's for jeans (£££ unfortunately) and we use Next for a lot of stuff, although ds1 isn't as tall as your ds, he is mostly leg and thin as string.

geogteach · 15/02/2020 11:30

We have the 2tall joggers. Ds is only 28 waist and 36 leg. Jeans are currently ankle swingers but will be following recommendations here. He has a pair of smart trousers from the Arket sale that fit well. School trousers we ended up having made
On holiday in Vietnam, we were so desperate, the ladies who measured him thought they'd got it wrong and started againHmm

I knew I could be the only one tearing my hair out - there's loads of tall, thin teenage boys out there who want more than jeans. Just to add - M&S do 35" legs (no good to my son) in some things - prob not right shape for teens and all sizes not in stock on line but maybe might help some of you. He also has to get size 14 in Nike/Adidas etc trainers so also limited choice there. (Sport Direct actually not too bad for this size).

ASOS tall is brilliant for slim jeans and goes up to a 38 leg but obviously less and less choice the lingers your legs and slimmer you are.
