Have name changed for this as with my recent posting history it’s too identifying. DS17 has been in a relationship for 2 years with his girlfriend , she is a lovely girl but has significant mental health issues and has self harmed in the past. DS also suffers from major anxiety and has had to deal with myself and STBXH separating a year ago and things are very much far from resolved, he takes medication and sees a counsellor on a weekly basis. Today he told her he needed to end the relationship and she took an overdose. It’s a horrible situation for everyone and I feel desperately sad for her but equally need to support DS. He feels incredibly guilty and that it is his fault. I am trying to tell him otherwise but I am at a loss what to say and how to help him. College support services are aware and are involved. Anyone been through similar with any words of advice?
