Hi
I'm stepparent to 16yr old girl who has consistently been throwing up for about a year now. She's been through CAMHS and discharged last year after suicide attempts and self-harming (cutting) and we were told not to make a big deal of the eating as it was a trigger. We were also told not to call it Bulimia as they weren't sure it was that or another form of self harming.
She's in another cycle of the sweet/sugary binge eating or carbs, and then throwing up and has a massive strop if it's mentioned. We've hidden sugar and anything like syrup etc and we rarely buy cake or biscuits or chocolate. If we do it's hidden away.
I'm at the end of my tether as we can't even discuss it with her and as her stepparent (she doesn't call me that - I'm her Dad's girlfriend!), it's tricky knowing how hard to push it not.
Any advice would be very welcome!!! Thanks.
