social media access at school

I have recently found out that my 15 year old daughter has accessed a chat room whilst using school computers she has since told me that pornographic images were also sent to her on this occasion. I am completely shocked that she was able to access this kind of site whilst at school especially as the school did not seem to know about this and are only aware because i contacted them. I have also since realized that they can openly access facebook whilst at school. I have a big problem with this as she has used facebook inappropriately in the past. i have banned her internet access at home many times, I feel like i do my best at home to monitor her internet and keep her safe (this is becoming a full time job) only for her to go into school and access anything she feels like. Am I the only one shocked that my child can access social media at school?

I'm not shocked but I do think schools should be very strict about use of social media, phones, tablets etc at school. It seems to me that there is a horrific culture of bad language, taking photos in the classroom on phones - children now have no privacy apparently - and inappropriate material being shared in the classroom.

Adults at work seem to have their rights more protected that children at school.

It's a huge problem IMO.
