can a 17 year old be kicked out of home

my dd friend who lives a few roads away from us is being told by her parents that she is going to have to leave home. was wondering if this is legal and where could this girl stay? she is not 18 till June so quite a while off

No it's not. A parent is legally responsible for a child until they reach 18 years of age. This includes ensuring that they have accommodation, whether that be with them or another person. A child can choose to leave home at the age of 16 however.

Speaking as a social worker, certainly the two local local authorities I have worked for would not offer any accommodation support to such parents, they would be advised of their responsibilities. I suspect this will be the same for most.

Yes
But homelessness support for those aged 16 plus is pretty shockingly bad so they would be putting their DC into an awful position and setting them up for a bumpy ride long term.
