We are waiting to leave.

He has shut his bedroom door firmly.

Give. Me. Strength.

No body makes DS do anything he doesn't want to.

Including entering Clarks.

I'm going to suggest we look in the phone shop, as he needs a new phone. At least that will get him near the shoe shop.....

God, good luck with that. I now buy shoes for my DSes online, so traumatic were the trips to the shoe shops. The one occasion where I don't mind having to send things back if they don't fit.

My dd1 is nagging about school shoes today. Ive said no. She has to get up early enough so that we can be there as the doors open - before the queue builds - not managed that yet!

Well, if he's come with me last week like I suggested, it wouldn't be packed out.

I have no idea what size he is, so he at least needs to be measured, even if I then order on line. But now with the bank holiday...we're cutting it fine.

We're still waiting for him......This is going to be hell, isn't it.

I also purchased online as DS was so repulsed by the very thought of it. He won't even look at them as he doesn't want to think about going back to school. Oh the drama!

Let him wear last years, once they hurt he'll go shoe shopping.

DH will only buy new shoes when his are falling apart and the lining has disintegrated.

Both my DDs are refusing new school shoes (DD1's are newish), but DD2's will leak in Nov.

So she'll demand new ones when they are out of stock Grrrr

I too have just had to go through that ordeal. 13yr old in size 9 so had to have mens £45, 10 yr old size 6.5 £45!!!!

At least I got them there and we are now home and its not even lunchtime.

We have shoes! Smile

DS saw no problem with his old ones, but it was obvious even to me they would be too small. The last thing I need is DS suddenly saying at 5pm on a Monday "My shoes hurt I need new ones." Once he's got to that point, he would never wear them again, and would refuse to go to school until he had shoes. I even managed to persuade him to get a different style....we must be on a roll!

DS needs an entire new uniform plus shoes. He appears to be allergic to town, and has asked me to guess what size he is and buy everything myself.

Am at the end of my tether with him.

Well, my DS is convinced his school trousers still fit. He is refusing to even try them on so we can see if they still fit. I think I might point and laugh on his first day back at school. I know he's grown, but he doesn't seem to recognise it himself.

We have this trauma to come on Tuesday. He needs new boats shoes. Size 11 / 12 can look like clown shoes in the wrong style. He never likes anything.

DS also needs a haircut, as well as the uniform and shoes.

I have visions of him attempting to unscrew his head and give it to me to bring to the barbers, just so he doesn't have to make the trip to town.

I bought trousers etc online to avoid the shopping trip. Nagged and nagged the DSes to try them on to ensure they fitted. They finally tried them on the night before school went back (Scotland) Thankfully they did fit. If they had not it would of course have been my fault.

The barber was another trauma, had to take them down separately on different days to spread the trauma, and had to wait for ages in both cases as we failed abysmally to be there early doors as I had planned (by about seven hours)

Went at 9am this morning. Dd2 - sorted, no hassle. Dd1 is another story. She hated everything that fitted and is still holding out for a pair of ballet pumps. Sorry dd, not happening... When you are 14 you can ruin yr feet but while you are still 10 they are my responsibility. So we are still unshod. Dh was there too so we had tears and all...

The woman in the shop said to me as I was paying for dd2's "dont bring Dad next time Wink"

We did school shoes yesterday too. We got them all - the black ones, the trainers for PE/sports and the football boots - in Sports Direct for 60 total. I don't really care if they fall apart after a term: DS2 hates sports anyway, and it's worth it to have minimised my shoe-shopping-related stress today!

I couldn't have done it online: his feet have grown from size 7 to size 9 over the summer...

DS2 is changing schools, so we have had the whole lot to get... I hate it all so much and I have gone for the quick-fix options wherever possible...

And we haven't even tried to have the book/stationery/bag conversation yet.

All the school stuff is still in the pile on the shelf where it was tipped on the last day of term. I must steel myself to drag him out of his cave and sort it.
There's probably some homework in there as well.

It could be worse. My 4 DDs love shoe shopping, and although school shoes are a poor substitute for, you know, cool shoes, its better than nothing.

If they had it their way we'd go around every shoe shop in town just to look at what they have before settling for some flimsy slip on ballet pumps, 9 inch stilettos or sequin converse which surely just about match the rules and cost more than my mortgage. Hmm

I'll take your DS, you can have my mini Kate Moss wannabes! I'll swap back after lots of Wine

GraduallyGoingInsane Reminds me of an incident last year.
I am a mother of two boys so the trauma of shopping for girls has passed me by.
We were going through Topshop to get to Topman. DS1's (now ex) GF was in there with her mum. Mum asked me what I thought of GFs choice of shoes for school. I laughed at them and said something to the effect of "you can not be serious?"
I later discovered that the mother had bought the outrageous shoes and the GF never spoke to me again.
