Pre-menstrual nausea?

Has anyone else had experience of this? My 13 year old DD has tended to go through phases of nausea on and off for the past few months and I've recently realised it does seem to happen just before a period. I've never had this symptom myself, but I guess maybe it's rather similar to pregnancy sickness? The nausea seems to last a few days each month. I usually give her ginger biscuits which do help but I hate to think she'll have this every month for years to come! Any advice, please?

Get a good quality multi-vitamin supplement for women for her. It might take a few weeks to see any noticable effect but definitely worth a try. Also try to ensure she eats regularly and doesn't have massive differences between the amount of sleep she gets on weekdays and at the weekend. Your poor DD. Good luck.

That's great advice, weemumbelina - I'll try all of those things. Thanks.

High doses of Evening Primrose oil (1000mg) taken daily can help all manner of hormone-related issues with girls/women. Sometimes just taking it in the week leading up to the period can help.

No experience of the nausea myself, but DD1 used to have terrible nausea the first 24-48 hrs of her cycle but grew out of it after a year or so.

It's encouraging to hear your DD grew out of it, Wellies. I can see a trip to the pharmacist is called for! Thanks for the advice.
