Building self-esteem; nobody loves DD & she's going to end up old, single and living with cats

She is normally quite confident and happy;but she was having a moment where the whole world hates her

I cuddled & reassured, but it was fairly futile

What could/should I do?

She is 14 btw

You're doing the right thin- unless you suspect there are deeper problems, cuddles, reassurance and some sort of treat is the way forward. They are still very young at 14- sometimes they need to be treated like little ones for a bit.

She is working very hard and school (they start GCSEs early at her school) and doing lots of activities (rehearsals for a play); so I wonder if she is over tired

My 16 year old say the worse possible thing is to say "don't worry, darling everything will be all right" because then she'll just get angry!

Nah, she will be gloriously able to live a fabulously selfish life with lots of boyfriends and terrific clothes. And cats. What's not to like?

Oh she was very angry anyway

Blaming me for everything from being proud of her to helping her with her maths homework (which she missed class as she had flu before half-term) to DD losing her phone

It's all my fault

My DD1 is looking forward to beong single & living with a houseful of cats Grin

But she is ,by her own admission, an anti-social geek, but as she has a group of chums who are all the same I try not to don't worry too much.

A mothers place is in the wrong after all.

DD1 says she is never going to get married and is going to live with cats she has no intentions of splitting with her BF of 3 years he can get his own place she said Grin

DD2 is 14 and it cant be a funny age some 14 yr olds mature faster than others so some of the girls can look like women iyswim , Just keep doing what you are doing , dd2 had a bit og a wobble on valnetines day bless her she was a bit Sad she didnt get a card or some tacky teddy from anybody , we ended up watching a film and snuggiling on the sofa while her sister cat lady went out for a meal ,
