Any ideas for the first anniversary?

It is soon going to be the first anniversary of Mum and Dad being killed.

Nan and Granddad (my Mum?s) and Grandma and Grandpa (my Dad?s) have probably got their own ideas about what they want to do. But I want at least part of what happens to be what I want and need. The trouble is I cannot think of anything suitable.

Any ideas, not too expensive (my money is tight) and not too tiring for the others.

I have booked the anniversary off from school so it could be during the day.

I haven't read any of your previous posts, but I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your parents. That is so terribly sad. :(

Is there somewhere that particularly reminds you of them that you could visit? Somewhere with lovely memories, maybe a place you used to have day trips or holidays? You could release some balloons or lanterns, or throw some flowers out to sea, or whatever seems appropriate. Take a friend if it helps lighten the mood, but crying and being alone is fine too.

Sending you love and strength for the weeks ahead. x

I have friends who always celebrate their Dad's life on the anniversary of his death - maybe the theatre, or a meal somewhere they liked. It gives them time to talk over the happier times, and inevitably there are tears, but also lots of shared memories.

We always spend a very sad day with everyone tip-toeing around, not quite knowing what to say, which is not the right way to do it. Sad

I hope you are able to do something that will help you and your family.

A trip into the countryside to somewhere with a nice view?
