Surrogacy

Intended Parents - Don't give up!

Surrogacy is not the easiest way to have a baby, god knows.

But we tried for nearly TEN YEARS before it finally worked for us.

I know, looking back it seems mad to keep trying for that long. All I can say is it was totally worth it when our very own newborn baby was placed in my arms by our surrogate, still covered in blood and vernix and all. My DH cut the cord and our darling surrogate said this was the best moment for her, seeing the looks on our faces as we became a family at last. We can never thank her enough for giving us all this.

So anyone who's trying... or thinking about surrogacy... Don't give up!

And feel free to ask me any questions Smile

Salty, can I ask was yours a host or traditional surrogacy? Did you do it here or in US? Thank you! :)

We tried host (with donated eggs) and traditional here in the UK for about 5 years. Then we went to the USA where traditional (ie using the surrogate's own eggs) isn't popular, so we used donor eggs there from one of the reputable agencies.

Was impressed with how regulated it is in the US, yes it is commercial but that also means it's run very professionally and so surrogates (and donors) that get approval are generally very stable and grounded with stable lives to do this sort of thing - ie it's not vulnerable young women looking to make money and hence possibly being exploited, IMHO Smile
