She was very elderly, her sister passed away a few months ago so we knew she didn't have long left. Having said that, she was happily eating and squeaking away last night. This morning I was chopping vegetables and she didn't squeak - she would always squeak when she heard me chopping as she knew she'd get some of the veg. I went to check on her and she was gone.

Just like that, alive one minute and gone the next. She was lying peacefully in her bed and hadn't shown any signs of illness or distress, so I'm very grateful for that. So sad to have lost her though, she was very much loved Sad.

I'm so sorry. It's a wonderful thing that she went so peacefully though Flowers

Thank you, you're right, I am glad it was so peaceful for her. I have decided not to get anymore pigs for the time being so have just phoned the local rescue to offer them our hutch and all the other bits and bobs. I got a bit teary but feel better knowing that we'll be helping other piggies that need it.

I’m so sorry. It sounds as if she had a long and happy life and to pass away with no illness and peacefully in her own bed is a blessing.

Sorry to hear this muminthecity, you’ll miss that morning wheeking for some time to come no doubt. It must be very comforting for you that she went peacefully in her sleep. RIP little pig Flowers
