Is that what bumble foot looks like? Off to google.

I think it probably is early bumble foot. Soft soft bedding, no wire surfaces etc and see the vet :(

Sleepingbunnies that's not bumble foot yet. What you have there is a piggy that's been sitting in her own wee. Treat as nappy rash. Bathe foot in warm water to remove pee, pat dry with kitchen towel and apply Sudocrem.

Coincidently I lodged on to post about Coco's feet.

I clean their cage all the time :( they are certainly not neglected piggies at all. I feel bad that I have somehow caused this.

theas they have no wire flooring! I know what I'm doing, they are in a cage with wood shavings and hay as bedding.

All my gps feet look like that all the time... Even when they're out on grass in the summer.

Sleeping not implying that you don't know honest just stating he usual advice. There is a piggy owner posting today who is very caring and still the dreaded bumble foot has reared its ugly head.

Hope it settles soon.

Sleepingbunnies I think pink skinned paw pads are just more delicate than the brown or black. Or maybe more noticeable Confused when they are sore. A bit of pinkness is common.

Cut back on acidic foods, if you give them any, it might be making their wee strong.

Guinea pigs are manky little buggers and will sit in wee no matter how regularly you clean them. I'm sure nobody is implying you are a neglectful piggy owner.

Tbh I wish Coco's feet looked that good Sad

I do recommend giving nappy rash cream a go.

sleeping your guinea has pink skin and now that I'm looking after sows (after years of boars) I appreciate just how much they pee. Much, much more than the boars.

Also, when it's this time of year, they are less active. My girls have layer of woodbased cat litter (like long thin pellets, it is recommended as small animal friendly) in their indoor cage with newspaper and a fleece (I have stopped giving loose hay indoors, I never stopped hoovering it, they have the hay cookies inside)

Outdoors, newspaper and hay. I know from the lack of evidence (no poohs) outside their haybox that they don't actually do much.

So YY , they are prone to sitting in their pee.

It's a bit like pressure areas when people are immobile. If you can't get them moving, you need to protect them.

My ladies have a mixture of foot colours, GP5 is mainly brown (odd pink toe) GP4 has black/pink.
We noticed that our boar got pinky feet when he wasn't well, because he was static, very unlike him. He spent his whole time patrolling.

If you do use fleece, make sure you have something absorbant, like newspaper underneath, it's designed to 'wick' away moisture.
And be careful with detergents, some will irritate their skin.
Good Luck

We are switching to fleece today in the hope it helps.

Does anyone think I urgently need to take her to a vet? Like this weekend? I will obviously if it's urgent for her health but as this weekend is completely packed with parties etc I don't want to have to let people down if I can treat at home.

Thank you all for your suggestions, you are all very kind and have made me feel better Smile

Vet here
No its not urgent - pododermatitis occurs usually when the skin has become a bit damp or abraded and then infection sets in. This just looks a bit inflamed but not infected - keep scrupulously dry and lots of fresh air and it should settle.

I would home treat for a few days first. The skin is not broken and that is a good sign.

I see its a back foot that is effected. They are so terribly springy, like frogs legs aren't they. She won't take kindly to having it in a dolls tea cup a la Coco. Try a shallow dish such as a coffee jar lid as a piggy foot spa Wink
