Time for one of these threads again Grin but for all the new fur babies that have joined us.

I have a plastic lidded box under the table filled with an assortment of guinea-paraphenalia . Things that you might need or hopefully won't need but good to have on hand. Here goes:

Fell free to add to the list:

Critical Care (fine grind) or Recovery + some syringes.(Pet shops sell feeding syringes or you can get from Amazon) To feed ill piggies when they stop eating. In an emergency, you can mash up some pellets in warm water.

Salt and non fluffy sterile gauze- to make up a salt solution to clean wounds or eyes

Round end baby scissors- to cut fur from wounds

Tweezers- to remove things stuck in teeth ( believe me, it happens Wink )

A baby sock (depending on the size of your pig) to make an impromptu Sock-Pig outfit (Guineas don't wear the Cone of Shame) and don't take kindly to plasters Grin

Scales- weigh your pigs regularly. Keep a record. It is one of the early signs of illness.

Cornflour- stypic if you nick a claw

Nail clippers - not an emergency really, it's an ongoing thing so get some good ones.

Vitamin C drops or tablets to crush/dissolve

Probiotic powder

Mite treatment (I use Xeno 450 drops which are mite and worm treatment)

Guinea shampoo (Gorgeous Guineas are lush, they do some trial sizes. Washing and treatment. Some not for use on piglets under 12 weeks)

Cleaner if you need to do a deep clean. we use a steamer and/or Virkon S
.

Most of these things are really cheap, IIRC the most expensive thing is the nail scissors (they have a 'circle' in the blade and cut the nail like a guillotene. You need sharp ones so you don't crush the nail)

Some cuddle fleece or an old towel.

Seems very comprehensive 70. I think I have most of those, except the baby sock. Think I would need a large mans rugby sock for my rather rotund boys. Confused

Wind sock for GP4 but my tiny GP5 (not so tiny as she used to be though) would slip into a newborn baby sock (she reckons) Wink

I feel like a very neglectful piggy mum now. We have a clippers & a styptic pen...Piggy bubble bath lives in the bathroom and that's it.

Is it really a good idea to have all that just in case?

i have elderly piggies so for me the critical care is essential. i know i can mush up pellets instead etc but they dont like it
the rest i have just collected as i went along eg the salve was after a gpig fight
