RSPCA - they seem to have lots of GPs in local branches. Not sure about specific GP rescues but animal rescues often have GPs in.

I love the website for The Potteries in Stoke on Trent but I don't know how far North West you want.

Phone some Rabbit Rescues too, that's how I met GP1 & GP2.

I'm really keen on them matching up a buddy for existing gp. Found one in Winsford but not sure its still running. Would rspca gp match? Stoke isn't too far if they'd match up.

Is it Cavy Haven ? They have a website and a contact number.
The Potteries is closed till the 28th August (illness)
Not sure about RSPCA , they might match. (But there was something on one of their websites about two boars living together need to be neutered. Hmm )

Yes Cavy Haven. Have left a message but not heard back yet. Maybe I'm just impatient!

I've contacted the Stoke one (also like the website) but neither that one or the tameside one have gps suitable if the websites are up to date. Spoke to a lovely lady from the Winsford one. She's some that need a couple more weeks then should finds a good match.
I just want one now! DD is without a pet but I don't like a bereaved one being left so long on his own Sad

Ooh, can you ask one of the Rescues that you spoke to to recommend a local Rescue? They might know some, I'm sure there are situations where they cannot take a pig and have to pool resources with other Rescues.
They might have a few in foster homes ( kept in a volunteers house) they might have some piglets or a singleton.
Or your local vet, if they know anyone?

Otherwise your options are looking for a good responsible breeder (advantage of a Rescue and breeder is you have some back up)

Again your vet might know of some (especially if it's a small animal practice)

I know it's frustrating when you want a pig as a match up , you need to be quite specific in what you need for your remaining pig.

Your boy is 5 months now?

Would you consider having him neutered or do you want a male companion?

( I would have carried on with boars but my GP3 would probably try it on with another male - he did with GP1. Fine with an adult, more worrying with a smaller pig. He's sterile now and with his females. There's some rumbling and flirting but I guess when they're in season, they'll behave more favourably to him )

You'd need to find a vet you can trust, it's not without risk. We paid £53 IIRC for the surgery (can be up to £80 ) so it's a big step all round.
Our boy was a year old and he's big .
Then they're 4 weeks post-op to be sterile,

But it means I have rescued 2 sows

Tbh DH would be far from impressed if I suggested neutering. The poorly gp cost us a fortune in vets fees.
He's happy enough and getting a lot of fuss every day being the school holidays. Just wanted it sorted before school starts back, but we'll just have to wait.
