Shoeboots virgin needs advice

I have never really done the shoeboots thing despite being a reasonably committed follower of fashion. I seem to have a bit of an aversion to wearing anything not knee high with skirts and dresses.

However I have decided to get several new pairs of boots this winter and one is to be a shoeboot. I think these are quite nice to start with.

I don't want anything too high as most of their outings will be to the shops via the park & other sahm excitement.

I am wondering though how to wear them. I can see them working with skinnies (though not leggings somehow) but am slightly at the idea of them with dresses. I have long legs but don't they make even good legs look fat? I have size 7 feet too which makes me wonder if they'll also look flipper-esque?

Thanks in advance.

I think these might be friendlier on the leg?

I can't see your link - it takes me to the Schuh women's shoes homepage - but I would say if you went for ones that have a slight 'v' shape at the front, it's more slimming.

I'm not big but I do have slightly chunky legs and I can get away with ankle boots/leggings or ankle boots/dress combo if I do this. It even works with black leggings and grey ankle boots which should surely be unflattering?!

Something like the Red or Dead Tuxedo or the Hush Puppies Colette on the Schuh site would work?

I really like the Red or Dead Tuxedo and might get them for the Christmas party season but need something with a much lower heel if I am to rock the look more frequently. Will have a look at the Hush Puppy ones now but the ones I was suggesting are the Schuh frill ones....

Is that the Bob ruffle one for £69.99?

That would probably work - it's not too high at the front.

I like the Red or Dead ones too. Wish I hadn't seen them now, very tempted but overspent this month so need to pay DH back in Oct!

I have also been contemplating shoe boots. I think they can work with leggings, and possibly dresses on top, and definitely with skinnies.

Glad I am not alone at devoting hours to the worrisome question of shoe boots

Will watch this thread with interest - agree low heel is vital (for me)

Someone try to link the schuh frills, please
