CNyle is probably right

if the rest of the guests who have been at the ceremony will be wearing flowery dresses, linen suits and big hats you will look like a stripper.

but it does depend on the wedding and the venue though - in some plcaes what you describe (with a cardi or wrap) would look noteworthy but not outrageous.

you'll get daggers from the other women

hmm its a difficult one because srtcktly speaking its not actually a wedding there will be no church no ceromony evan just a big BIG party maybe i'd best get a cardy and just go with the attitude i will wear it whilst i can

Your dress does sound a little "Look at me!"

Do you have an alternative dress you could wear? If you're already having last minute wobbles then you obviously do care what others think and turning up looking like the cabaret won't make you popular. Save the dress for an occasion when you'll feel completely comfortable wearing it.

poor milk.

I think little skinny people like you look ok in short strapless things. Why not wear it to a wedding? Do guests really check out others' florals and linens?

Ach, wear it. It's a party.

I wouldn't look daggers at you. I'd think you were great.

Depends on the party. If it's a big evening bash, then fine to wear, it's an evening dress. If it's an afternoon number with a salmon buffet, then I think you might feel a bit wrong.

lol at everyone trying to make her cover up

When you're wee and young you can get away with all sorts clothing wise but if it's for a day-time wedding reception then it's too cabaret. If it's an evening do with a disco it'll be ok. What's the event like?

Report
mothersmilk · 26/09/2009 13:45

evening disco/kareoke/piss up dh and i are'nt going to the day do so about 8.30pm onwards
