I need a new dress for an evening wedding reception at end September, a wedding in December & dsis' 30th. I may not get away with wearing same dress to all 3 though only dp and dd will be at all events.

I want something fashionable and stylish.

I am 5"7Ish, size12, long brown hair, green eyes.

Probably don't need shoes but might be tempted to buy new ones depending on dress.

I like black, grey, brown, red, green but not all together!!

Budget up to £200-250 but happy to spend less.

Thank you!
MM

NOt sure this is funky enough, but I love the colours: Paul Smith
Red, with ruffles?
This is pretty, but might be a bit summery.
Not sure how pink this is in rl, looks coppery colours on screen.

Any of those in the right direction?

Right I have NO idea what yuo like or dislike so I've just gone for a selection of dresses trying to stick to the colours you like (whilst avoiding black and brown as just too darn dull for 3 fabulous parties!!)

So in no particular order we have....

different and pretty

more glam

very pretty!

not exactly cutting edge fashion wise but nice all the same

another red one!

this is very green but I like it - different

gorgeous and feminine

love the colour

Any of these close to what you're after?

Damn you Jackie no... I had forgot all about Pysche... I used to go out with a guy from boro -it was my favourite shop!!!

lol geordiminx

Bunny - those are (almost) all fabulous - have to say, I'm not desperately keen on the green one. Has the potential to look a bit matronly.

My SIL showed me this dress from John Lewis, which is fab.

You could then get a shrug (sparkly) for the evening wedding, a wrap for the winter wedding or maybe a cardi with a fake fur collar.

Oooh that is nice Blehdy. The colour is so rich and wintery!

Jackie - I'm hearing you about the green one! It caught my eye but on further thought probably best left to the 6ft supermodel types!

Where have you gone monkeysmama? I wanna look for more posh frocks!

It's amazing, isn't it?

Yes, come back monkeysmama, we want to know what you're getting.

Blehdy - I love, love, love that JL dress - that is a gorgeous colour. Really dramatic. ANd you could go classic with shoes that tone, or make it more funky with shoes that clashed, like teal, or something.

I am here! Hello and thank you.

BL - thanks for the lovely comment .

I actually love the green one but sadly not for a wedding. I'm not sure quite where I would wear it or I'd be buying it anyway (well, if I knew where to wear it and had money to burn)

So, I like the red Ted Baker one with the ruffles but am worried other women may wear TB - he seems to have become a wedding favourite.

I like the final Untold one in BL's list and am going to check the returns policy. If dp likes it I might buy it and try it on though I have never worn that colour before.

Keen on the "different and pretty" one too but think it might make me look a bit big (I am going up in size and am feeling a bit sensitive about it)

I am pretty keen on the JL one too.

Having said that none of them are the dress iyswim. But I think maybe I should get the JL one too and try it on though halternecks usually make me look a bit of an odd shape as I have an unusually short torso and long legs (I don't look that odd!)

Thanks again and keep 'em coming.

Hmm - how about any of these:

Love it or hate it (probably no in between)
Very neutral, but maybe a bit boring?
Too fitted?
Kind of cute, and not fitted, so no short waist issues.

Interesting shape though you'd have to try it on to see if it suited you.
Pretty.

That second one also in teal.

I know what you mean about finding "the one". I spent weeks agonising over finding a dress for a wedding (there's some rather pleady MN threads around that I started), eventually SIL lent me a dress, but I found the dress a couple of days ago. It just felt right. You'll find yours.
