Is anyone else deeply depressed to see Nicole Kidman looking so skinny straight after giving birth to her baby?

she looked skinny apart from her bump for the entire pregnancy... she is a very fit woman, who didn't gain weight. I will forgive her.

I don't normally forgive

hmm, yes, I get that. but good on her, yummy mummy doctor waiting room lady. But personally it's much more annoying to see the celebs pushing their slender frames on us on the red carpet and the media snapping it all up. i just think that if i was an a lister, I would want to take some time out with my baby and close the door and be a bit more sisterly and not flaunt it...but then again, i'm not an a lister...ah, yes.

How is it 'flaunting it' or 'pushing' anything at you if Nicole Kidman chooses to go to a yoga class a couple of weeks after having a baby? She didn't arrange to be photographed. Being thin and fit is clearly hugely important to her, so she ate sparingly and exercised all the way through pregnancy. She didn't have any 'baby weight' to lose. I think it is really pushing the idea of being sisterly to mean that just because you are famous you have to get fat and then never leave your house!

of course she arranges to be photographed, that's what being a celeb/actress/whatever is all about. however, it's all good material for us fat mummies to have a good old moan about over our hot chocolates, eh girls

Actually it isn't. She clearly didn't want to be photographed going to teh yoga class. She gets staked out. If she wanted to be photographed she wouldn't have moved to Nashville. A picture of her with the baby would be golddust yet there hasn't been a single one. Are you seriously suggesting that to be 'sisterly' a celeb has to never leave the house?
Victoria Beckham is another story altogether.

But if you're skinny and fit going into pregnancy and looked after yourself during then there's nothing a pair of control pants can't sort out.

I was back into my 'normal' clothes straight after birth. Fact that my 'normal' clothes are a size 14 and I had a double chocolate muffin top before I was pregnant is by the by!

why is it depressing? for celebs, being skinny is their livelihood. I'm just grateful I have a way to earn money that allows me to eat the occassional raspberry muffin.

First, I think she naturally has a long, lean, willowy body.
Second, she works out alot - always has done - and that has a great deal to do with your body's ability to 'snap back' into shape. (My friend did some personal training work for her, and she is/was very fit.)
Finally - maybe she's nursing? I lost alot of weight quite dramatically when nursing.

I have a friend who's back into size 8 jeans just 3 months after giving birth to her fourth child in four years. She does a huge amount of exercise - 100 lengths a day swimming- and cycles everywhere (with the children in a special cart behind the bike). She never eats junk food, only healthy food. I think she's earned her amazing figure.

I was back in my jeans withing 6 weeks, I'm a size 6-8. I'm just naturally small, always have been and apart from pg have never weighed more than 8 stone in my life.
I didn't flaunt it as such but I had/have a good figure, I'm not going to wear a tent incase someone else feels bad and if they want to think I exercised constantly from 10 minutes after giving birth then fine.
The reality is I've never exercised and don't plan on starting!

I was back in my size 6 jeans 5 weeks after giving birth to my son (but they were a bit tight for a while!) Pre-pregnancy I was very fit - had just run my 3rd marathon the month before conceiving - and I carried on exercising throughout my pregnancy.

I am naturally very small but I exercise to keep everything toned up. Plus I enjoy it and it's time to myself. I'm quite happy with my body and being fit helps me keep up with a very active toddler!

Happy I can be as I am - - would hate to have to be a size 0 after having given birth. What a stupid pressure to have.

back in size 10 about 5 weeks later as did pilates throughout but have to say tone is still not tehre and defo baby curve to tummy now (dont really mind as its a little reminder of a very nice thing)...

nicole kidman clearly of that build adn very fit so no surprise is back in her jeans - and agree that she doesnt seem to go out of her way to seek publicity (unlike some) so seems bit unreasonable. plus say waht you like but body image does matter if you're an actress so I'd sooner be normal than have that kind of pressure

she is skinny naturally though. What is not so natural is the unlined forehead and the new slightly puffy top lip. Great shame she seems to feel a pressure to conform to Hollywood freak standards.

i fitted back into size 6 jeans seconds after giving birth - sadly it only my arms that fitted not my ginormous size 18 arse.

It must be hard ageing when you're a movie actress, I suppose, hence the ton of Botox. She might also feel like an old mum with her new baby and be overcompensating?? (I don't think she is an old mum by the way)

and this

not casting any aspersions on Kidman, mind. I love her, she went to my school and she is just a long lean lady. Fair play to her.

LTEC - interesting articles. My friend had an eating disorder, rekindled at the start of her pregnancy.

She was complaining about morning sickness and never being able to keep any food down. She was actually causing the vomiting herself and taking a lot of laxatives.
