I've heard of both Aculight and IPL but are these both laser techniques? Are they just different 'brands' of laser? Can anyone explain. Thanks.

What happens in between treatments? That's what always worries me - ages ago I looked into it and the woman said you had to shave any growth between treatment, which sounds horrific for the face. PettyandIllinformedGoat - how many treatments did it take? And has the hair gone completely?

Aculight is laser.
IPL is intense pulse light.
Both very similar in terms of the experience, but iirc IPL doesn't work well on blondes, but is slightly quicker to perform as it can zap a larger area in one go.
I've had both.

the shaving thing is horrific, i didn't shave between treatments. i went once a month for 3/4 months and now just go when i spot any new hairs prob. every 3 months. hair has not gone completely but the big dark ones are nearly gone and area under nose is fantastic. so not gone completely but i suspect if i had kept going every month the results would be better as you need to catch the hairs as they are growing.

there is no prob. between treatments.

I had IPL on my bikini line about 7 years ago. I went about 4 or 5 times over about 6 months, which completely cleared all unwanted hair - I'm quite dark, it apparently doesn't work so well on fair hair. I could do with going back now for another session just to rid a few fine hairs which have grown back, but I was very impressed at how effective it's been. Would highly recommend it. It's not painful, but feels like elastic bands pinging against your skin and the area can be a little red for a day or so afterwards.

Back days and days after posting this message!! Right this is all very interesting. IPL seems very popular. Has anyone tried the aculight so I can gage the difference.
