Shampoo recommendations

Hi

Please can anyone recommend a shampoo for a child with very fine and dry curly hair. Also shpuld I condition it too as conditioner always seems to heavy as its so fine. Anything else I can do to stop littlest looking feral as at the minute im failing to make her look decent. I have no experience with curly hair.

How old is she? Young children need very little shampoo because their scalps do not get oily. We rinsed our young dcs' hair every night, but only used shampoo once a month or so, or if there was actual dirt in their hair. From about 8 or later they start developing smells and you can see that their hair gets greasy over a period of time. Only then do they need to use shampoo and conditioner.

Curlsbot is a very useful website to check whether any hair product is less likely to make hair dry or frizzy. You just copy and paste the ingredients list into it and it flashes up any ingredients that tend to cause problems.

Thank you @Dilbertian thats so helpful. Shes only 3. I have been using shampoo every couple of days, I didn't realize they didn't need it. It makes sense so I'm stopping that now.
Maybe I could put something on when she gets up like an oil or whatever because its usually very frizzy/messy when she gets out of bed and I don't brush it as it makes it worse.

I wouldn't put anything on it at all at first. Just leave it for a couple of weeks and see how it responds to not being shampooed. Wash just with water, comb out tangles very gently in the bath, then blot it rather than rub it with the towel. Rubbing tangles hair.

DD has curly hair. After trying a few different approaches, we found the best thing is to wash with only conditioner (she has Child’s farm), comb thoroughly when wet and before rinsing the conditioner. No combing between washes, just spray in conditioner (for this we use Johnson’s spray in conditioner) or Argan oil.
