Warm winter coat

I need a new coat this year. Would prefer something warm, waterproof and below the knee (i'm 5.9). I've exhausted the Seasalt one I've worn for about a decade and want a new brand. I don't want a horizontal puffa type because I'm on the large side. Warmth is key, I'm always cold. Any recommendations?

I love my arctic parka, I appreciate you don’t want a puffer coat but I find them flattering.. and cosy, especially with a cashmere jumper underneath I find!

I googled, is that North Face? That's the kind of thing I mean. I just don't like the ones with horizontal stripes, they make me look wider.

Fjallraven parka - can't remember which one. It was v expensive but it was combined birthday and Christmas present from DH. for once I was happy to have a birthday just before Christmas.

It is my most favourite Winter clothing. It's like being wrapped in a duvet.

@Notonthestairs Sounds wonderful, that's what I want. It's an investment. Could it be Singi www.fjallraven.com/uk/en-gb/women/jackets/winter-jackets/singi-wool-padded-parka-w?v=F89859%3a%3a7323450532154 or Expedition www.fjallraven.com/uk/en-gb/women/jackets/winter-jackets/expedition-long-down-parka-w?v=F86126%3a%3a7323450638030 Our weather is so crap I'd wear it for 8 months of the year, I reckon.

I bought a Jack Wolfskin parka last year and it was one of the best things I've ever bought. Kept me warm and dry for the whole winter and I expect many, many, more years out of it if my eight year old waterproof jacket is anything to go by.

Bought a Fjallraven parka last year but sent it back in favour of an Aigle

Didriksons are a really good Swedish brand, I bought one last autumn as I anticipated a winter with walks as our only method of meeting up. Really warm and waterproof

I always buy a Montgomery Duffle, I give it a spray of waterproofing stuff and is more than sufficient for Norfolk where we don't get much rain but may not be appropriate in a wetter area.

Mountain Warehouse are cheap (they always have sales on) and really warm.

I bought a Didrikson Golda at the end of winter last year so I’m yet to try it in the depths of the freezing weather, but it feels so heavy and warm. It’s quite a big, loose fit parka and quite long

I'm thinking about this from Didriksons but £300 however if you wear it for 6 months of the year for years it's not that spendy.

Those Fjallraven ones look fab, but v expensive. I'm partial to Trespass. I spent my first 15 years in the UK freezing, but not since I discovered Trespass. They do tend to mostly be hip/thigh length but they do have some long ones. A friend told me never to pay full price - it will be on sale soon - and it's good advice. I'll get a new one this year as I've destroyed the pockets on the old one (I'll keep it as a back up for really bad weather dog walks) but I've had it for 3 years, worn constantly, and it cost me £40 (reduced from £90). DS has had his winter coat from there every year for the last three and loves them because they're less chunky but still warm.

I have a helly Hansen Belfast jacket. It’s a great length, thick, totally waterproof and warm. Really pleased with it. Found a Janelle on eBay too.
