Longline vests

Ahhh help!
My favourite vests are H&M’s longline vests for layering under tops. They were an absolute staple for years but they’ve discontinued their range. They were absolutely perfect length (for covering my wide hips and bum!)
Does anyone know where to get something similar? I have quite a long abdomen, so any vests I buy hit right at the hips and are too short.
Thanks for any help!

I get mine from Matalan. They wash well and last ages. From the Papaya range.

No good with links but type in longline vest. They're £4 and lovely and stretchy too!

Next are very good and very long. Matalan also okay but shorter than the Next ones.

I don't know if they deliver to the UK, OP, but I saw them on the Dunnes Stores website yesterday. I'm not sure on the quality or sustainability or ethics of production, but if you're desperate. DS has had school joggers from there that lasted for ages and ages without knees going through them and so on, compared to M&S. But the prices are extraordinarily low so somebody is paying somewhere. Sad

Thank you! I’ve been searching the internet most of the morning (actively avoiding homeschooling and housework 😬) I’ve seen the variety from Next and MS & Dunne (I’ll give Matalan a go as well, thanks Inclinedtochatter). What they all lack is a good range of colours. H&M did lovely burgundy & charcoal ones that I wore with practically everything! 😢

I know what you mean, Ballyhoo. I don’t mind paying a bit extra to avoid fast fashion (and wearing out!)

I've had Primark ones that have lasted absolutely ages. V similar to H&M. Needed a few more for layering when breastfeeding and can't really wait for shops to open so ordered some off Amazon which seem good, but I made sure I checked the reviews first as sometimes the sizing can be on the small-side. I'm glad I did check as sized up twice I think just to accommodate the jugs. Not as cheap as Primark and obviously I can't be sure how long they'll last, but they'll keep me going for a bit. I wanted some colour too and managed to find a reddish one. Bit brighter than burgundy but a bit more exciting than black!

Kettlewell do a longer line vest but they are quite expensive. They wash and last well though but are prone to those holes you get when wearing jeans.

I think the colour range will increase in places like Next once we get nearer the summer. There's usually like 8 or so. Although, I guess tucked in is more fashionable now so longline may be going out?

I didn’t realise H&M had discontinued their long vests! 😩

I always found them to be the best ones.

I’ve got a couple of Next ones but I don’t like them as much.

I still like to have a bit of something to tuck in though. So annoying wearing a shorter top that just keeps coming untucked. Even worse if you're losing weight and in between sizes – slightly loose bottom half + short vest = pissed off! Grin

Gap have some in their tall range but only boring colours sadly (white, black, grey and navy)

This is so weird. I was just this minute getting miffed because I can't get my beloved M&S longline the fitted vests. They were the best! They've discontinued them, the twats Wink.

Found some in Hush; £££ and sold out!

Then, found the ones @AnotherEmma just suggested and have bought those about 5 mins before I saw this thread! Spooky Grin

Haha honestly this is such a first world problem it’s embarrassing. I quite like layering up underneath T-shirts and jumpers. It makes me feel a bit more ‘covered’. H&M’s we’re just so lovely, I hope they bring them back after an onslaught of angry muffin-top mums complain! 🤣
I had a look on Matalan’s site and fortunately there were some on sale with a good-ish variety of colours (navy, heather grey, a coral one, charcoal, black, oatmeal) so I bought seven. I mean, they were like 2 quid each so it really didn’t hurt the budget.
Let’s see how they wash...

Omg yes! We should stage some sort of protest, wearing crop tops and low riser jeans*! The fuckers will rue the day 🤣.

*believe me, if you ever saw me in such an outfit, (nobody ever will), you would know, this is an extreme measure to take!

Baukjen used to do a longline vest. Mine has lasted for years.

I know right, ParisJeTAime?! This ‘tucked in’ malarky looks good on those who haven’t had three kids and a penchant for a takeaway at the weekend! Looking forward to having a browse on the websites!

I’ve never heard of the ‘Hush’, SallyTall, or Bauken before today but, as my name would suggest; even after twelve years of living in the UK I still have much to learn!

I think I can tuck in if the bottoms are loose enough, but otherwise, no, never!

To back up apileofballywho Dunnes Stores vests are amazing. Long line are properly long line. Regular are great quality too.
I'm still wearing some I bought to BF DS 8 years ago and I still have a couple I wore as a teenager

I think they are £2-4 each and come in a variety of colours each season.

I checked for another poster re a cardigan and they do deliver to UK but you may have to buy quite a few vests.
Luckily there's loads of other nice stuff too

@GirlFromSaskatchewan I have washed and washed the Matalan ones (some of mine must be 3 years old) and they look exactly the same Smile
