Worth taking a punt on a graduate stylist in expensive salon?

Just that really. Have read brilliant reviews on a salon local to me (recently moved and no one I feel like I can ask for recommendations). However it's very expensive (for around here) about £70 for a cut and finish. However the same salon has graduate stylists for a mere £40 is it worth giving them a try do you think? Can I assume that because it's a high end salon then the graduate should be pretty good?

Not in my experience. They’ll charge them out for much closer to the standard rate when they’re good enough to warrant it (or probably just before!).

But you will get a nicer salon to sit in, probably, and perhaps nicer products on your hair... I’ve just never found the cuts to be anywhere near as good as the full price ones.

Well - they’re in the early stages of their career and still learning, they’re a junior stylist hence the cheaper price. I don’t necessarily think they’re more skilled than a junior graduate at another salon just because it’s a high end salon. It’s just that the high end salon might have more premium products or services (eg scalp massage at the sink etc) and in the interests of customer service, should correct any problems free of charge.

I think get the initial cut with a senior stylist then maintenance cuts/grind with the junior if you’re on a budget
