Best pregnancy stretch mark cream?!

veganmama95 · 20/10/2019 17:21

I’ve just been reading up on rave reviews about the Palmers stretch mark lotion but when I went to delve a little deeper it seems that they have changed the formula and people are NOT happy.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m currently 8 weeks into my first pregnancy and due to me being a UK size 4 I’m already developing a bump.

Cruelty-free and vegan formula recommendations only please 😇

I don't think creams make any difference, sorry. It's genetics.

Use anything you like the smell/feel/vegan/cruelty-free credentials of, because sadly nothing at all will stop you getting stretch marks if you are genetically programmed to get them. You'll have lovely soft skin though Smile

Oh dear... looks like I’ve almost fallen victim to all of the marketing ploys yet again!

I shall wear my tiger stripes with pride

Creams will help relieve itching and keep your skin moisturised but unfortunately they wont reach the deeper layers of skin where the damage begins. It's best to make sure you drink plenty of water and eat a good diet and look after yourself from the inside and even then it depends on genetics. Creams I like are lidles cocoa butter with vitamin e and aloe vera if using any to moisturise. Also coconut oil is nice and soothing to apply after a bath.

You might not get any, OP. I got not a single stretch mark in three pregnancies despite getting enormous so it's not inevitable.

I've bio-oiled every day since around 8 weeks (now 34) and i've still got them on my hips, i'm used to then been there now and my body has done something amazing to get them! I do find that bio-oil helps with the itching and stretching pains though.

Bio oil helps a bit.

You lucky duck!! Fingers crossed I’m the same, I’m not too fussed if I get them though as I see them as a badge of honour Grin

Oooh good to know! My mum recommended bio oil to me as well so might have to give it a try. My boobs are killing me as well so if it seems to help with the pain that would be amazing

I found bio oil alot better at healing existing stretch marks than preventing them. I used it through my entire first pregnancy and still ended up itching and with loads. I wouldnt recommend it.

If it is any consolation OP I am a size 4, had a big bump but only got a few stretch marks after I went 11 days overdue.

I was also back in size 4 jeans in a week so you might do alright!

E45 lotion here. Not a single stretch mark but I was old and a bit baggy anyway Smile. I was massive with both my kids - first on was 9lb 6/second 8lb.

Congratulations!

I hope I’m as fortunate as you!! If not I’m going to have to raid the shops for a new wardrobe Grin! My boyfriend and I were both little when we were born so fingers crossed I don’t end up with a 10lb-er, I’ll end up rolling about if that’s the case

Thank-you! By the looks of it the general consensus is to moisturise just to keep your skin supple, not to directly prevent stretch marks. 9lb 6! I couldn’t imagine it!

I used normal body oil in my last pregnancy (5 months PP now).
The oil I used was from Elemis in a red bottle. It was so soothing and smelt amazing. It was my daily indulgence!
I was so lucky to not have any stretch marks this time (I have stretch marks from my teens when I grew ridiculously quick so I know my skin can go down that road!) as I put on 4 stone 🙈

I've got the oil on my Xmas present list as I ran out just after giving birth and miss it terribly.

Congrats by the way Smile
