Filler in cheeks for nasolabial folds

I saw a recommended registered nurse for Juvederm on Friday to sort out my nose-to-mouth lines. She told me during a precious consult that to sort those out she needed to fill my cheeks to restore volume. This was verified by another doctor I saw in the interests of getting a second opinion!

I had 1ml put in each cheek on Friday and can see no difference. I can see a bit of volume in my cheek where it’s gone but nothing on my mouth to nose lines. She mentioned at the time it took more than she thought to get this effect but maybe I had too high expectations?

So my question is has anyone else had this and seen the effect instantly or is it a few weeks away like Botox? I’m only 35 so it’s not like my face is dragging on the floor!

1ml in each cheek. I would very much expect you to look different.
Fo you look different overall?
Is it just the folds that havent lifted at all?
Is there change in them?
Where was the juvederm mainly placed?
Was it juvederm voluma?

Filler doesnt eradicate the NL folds but if you're younger as in your case, and arent going for the completely flat faced overfilled unnatural folds in the first place, 1ml of filler on each cheek may well be sufficient to lift the cheek slightly. It depends where the volume was positioned though, that of course is the most important factor. You will remain swollen for about 3 weeks and it wont settle for a while after that but your face is currently a bit bigger that it will be.

No before or after pics yet- I didn’t take any myself and the nurse has them on her computer!

Not sure if it was Juvederm Voluma- But was deifnjfelt Juvederm. I had about 7 or 8 injections on each side of my cheeks and so it was mainly placed on my cheek bones and upper cheeks.

I don’t think the folds have moved all alll- I can see volume in my upper cheeks (no shit as that’s where all product went!) but nowhere else. I guess I was hoping for a really instant change and was a bit disappointed that there isn’t!

I had this done earlier in the year and i saw a difference immediately, no apparent swelling, but had to go back for a second lot as it didn't improve enough, mainly at one side where my cheek skin had dropped a bit, [not due to the fillers] before them, but i am older than you, but it has made a big difference to my face,as i had lost fat in cheeks, and naso labial lines are not there now
I had Restylane which my dentist says is best for cheeks,

Wow, you had it in lots of different injections on each side???
I've only ever encountered one access point and the whole area filled along the bone from there with a canula.
The filler is positioned in a sort of fan shape. It's usually drawn on first so you agree with where will be filled and why.
Voluma is specifically for cheeks and restoring fullness. If you look at a photograph of you taken fairly recently of you( nothing special) compare what you look like to that.
I believe there should be a noticable difference in your overall appearance ( in terms of freshness and generally lift) if it has been done correctly.

Hmm canula wasn’t even given as an option. On one side I only had a few entry points but the other was the one absorbing it more, so she did more to try and even it up. I’m not concerned that I look awful- I definitely look like I’ve had SOMETHING done but the bits I wanted fixed haven’t really been solved....

I did lots of research and saw two doctors before going with her, spoke to previous clients and had a consult so I do trust her. Just wonder if I should have had filler IN the nasolabial folds instead of just cheek filler!

I had fillers in my cheeks for a droopy mouth. Mine went at the sides of my mouth but sort of in the lower cheek area plus a little bit in the corners of my mouth. Effects were instant, I noticed a massive difference as soon as she handed me the mirror after treatment and I’m very pleased.

My issue was very much my droopy mouth, but I did have slight nose to mouth lines which have pretty much disappeared, I guess because that whole area round my mouth has been lifted.

My aesthetician (also a RN) advised me fillers were instant and it’s only Botox that needs time to settle so I don’t think you’re going to notice changes over time, what you see now is what you get unless you go back and ask for more. It sounds to me like she might have placed the fillers too high up (mine went in directly in line with my mouth) but I’m no expert and my treatment was for a different issue.

Cheek fillers should be placed high upor they will just make your face look fatter,i am also surprised you had so many injections,i had mine done with a cannula in one place and then she smoothed them out with her hand
Also improved the under eye area,i had slight bags, but they are not noticeable now either

Ok- thank you everyone! I guess this is as good as it’s going to get... in which case I’ll need it reviewed. It definitely doesn’t look any better, I just look a bit brighter round the face. I was really hoping to get these lines sorted so a bit disappointed really!

I had this 2 years ago when I was 50 for the same reason. I saw some improvement immediately but more a couple of weeks later when everything had settled down.
I loved it, was really natural looking

Have you considered going to see someone else for an opinion? Just because the person who administered the filler was a nurse it diesnt mean they have any real knowledge in aesthetic medicine, more they have done a short course and know how to inject. I'd go for a quick consult with someone who is a cosmetic/ aesthetic specialist before returning g to the same person I think.
