how to look smart-ish in a casual office

I want some flexible things that will look smart without looking like I'm trying too hard. at the moment I can only do realy smart - I have a rather lovely black suit - but it's too much iykwim. I have a couple of summery linen skirts - gentley flaring jigsaw type thing. but I'd like a smart-casual jacket and ideas for trousers - not so much links to specific pairs of trousers (trousers are so much down to fit) more ideas for an overall "look" - accessories etc. I can;t decide if this would be easy to wear, last for years, go with everything - or just boring. or maybe it would be all those things?

Can't speak from experience as I was stuck in a clothes rut so badly before getting pregnant last year, BUT my manager was just the best dresser in the office - not so much suits more smart casual

She wore lots of fitted clothes, always immaculately ironed, and in the best colours for her. She had started using personal shoppers from Selfridges, and wore Boden and LK Bennett stuff a lot. I think her trick was to know her body shape and dress really well for it, and use colours brilliantly. Probably not much help to you, sorry

For the jacket, it doesn't do anything for me on the screen. Boden stuff can be brilliant or not so good, maybe get it and send it back if not suitable? Does the colour work for you?
