Tropic skincare?

I know MN in general hates MLM, so I’d like to clarify, I’m not trying to sell anything or encourage anyone to join my team Grin
I have been seeing a lot of Tropic skincare popping up on my social media recently and it seems to be getting glowing reviews. Does anyone use it? Or am I just being naive and it’s another scam?

Also this is tragic but hilarious and well written too, and very illustrative as to the damage mlms do...

Now all you need to do it sit back and wait for the replies of posters whose "friend/sister/pet mini pig" sells it, and they were skeptical but now after soooooo much persuading they've tried it hun and it really is amazing and worth it, and it isn't like those other mean MLMs.... Grin

The products I tried were really nice (gifted to me, so I used them up). If they weren't MLM, and I could buy them in a shop, I would have totally replaced them when I ran out. But since it IS MLM, I won't be purchasing. Bit of a shame really.

Oh I was JUST LIKE YOU and then I tried it because my sister had some blah blah

Not really. I hate MLMs sorry. You are right to be cynical about these ads.

I am always on a hunt for miraculous skincare, hence the question if anyone used it.
If only it weren’t a MLM...

Honestly the best thing you can do (if you don't already) is to really read up on skincare, the thread on here and the Reddit skincare addiction sub are brilliant for this.

When you know all about ingredients, formulas etc its v easy to know exactly what's going to work for you before you buy, and getting a good skincare routine in place will make a miracle difference.

I wish I'd really, properly learnt about skincare years ago, rather than just listened to the "conventional" wisdom with its face scrubs (makes me wince now that I ever used these!) so called natural/organic products whose ingredients sound good but actually do nothing etc.

I do like their stuff, especially for DD as it’s cruelty free ( she’s veggie)
I buy it from a local lady who knows I just want to buy the products and have no interest in having a party or selling it myself or any of that malarkey

EatenByDinosaurs I have a really difficult skin (so to speak). Certain products help for a while but nothing seems to improve things permanently, that’s why I’m always LOOKING. I know quite a lot about ingredients etc but it feels that I need to change products/routines every few months, which can be a real PITA.

It get glowing reviews... from hun bots trying to flog it

Floral have you seen a dermatologist or your doctor about it? If trying new products and rinse and repeating isn't helping, it sounds like continuing that cycle with more new products isn't going to help. That just sounds like a recipe for frustration Sad

If you don't want or can't see the derm or Dr, have you tried posting on the skincare thread on here?
The posters are all very helpful and may be able to suggest something you haven't tried, without sacrificing yourself to the hunbots as Donkey so aptly put it Grin

Not a hunbot, honest, but I do find the Tamanu Balm to work wonders on my skin.

I use the Supergreens oil as moisturiser, it has made a massive difference to my half dry/half oily/middle aged skin and have the tamanu balm which we use in our house for anything from burns/shaving rash (DS)/bites etc. It's not the cheapest stuff but it does last.

I buy it from a local boutique - no hard sell, no pressure to join a team or have parties. I just go in when mine has run out and if she has it in stock great if not she will order it for me.

Yeah I'm like the poster above - the supergreens oil has made my skin look plumped up and younger looking. I just order from a friend but she's like a shop - leaves me alone unless I want to order.

Dermatologist is a great idea. People have had really good results.

EatenByDinosaurs I’ve kind of given up on GP/dermatologist. They tend to focus on one problem, ignoring the others. So if my pores look better, rosacea flares up. If we’re hydrating my skin, pores get clogged up. I could go on forever. It’s so frustrating [santa]

Sounds like you need a better doctor and a better derm! Not all are made equal sadly.

So, for the rosacea, have you tried a prescription for Soolantra?
There was a thread last week where a couple of posters has got it from Superdrug online doctors by uploading photos of their skin, apparently a v quick and easy process. I'm not sure as I'm not in the UK.

Have you ever used retin A? Though needless to say, do not do this until the rosacea is sorted!

The thing is, if you have serious skin issues, any kind of skincare may make it look better temporarily, but won't work in the long run, as you know.
It's like putting a plaster over a severed artery, if you don't get it stitched it will just keep bleeding through the plaster.

I really like tropic stuff. But then I only use cruelty free toiletries (excluding shampoo) so I have a limited choice really. I don’t sell it though, I just order it online through the website rather than get involved with reps or whatever other nonsense

Use it and sell it. When I say sell it people buy from me. I don't advertise as I've no intentions of making a business out of it.
Joining was a great way to get the full range a lot cheaper.
I'm ready to be called all sorts but really there's no need, I don't need anyone to join my cult. Use what works for you.
It's works very well for me.

I've had it during a facial and thought it was meh just average.

I love the Rituals stuff for treats and just good old astral for daily use. I get lots of compliments on skin which considering I'm sleep deprived with a 5 month old I'm amazed 🤣

I bought some Tropic skincare stuff at a party. Quite liked it. Not enough to buy again. Loved the body scrub and the deodorant.

OP I would agree with EatenByDinosaurs - I’m sure you will be able to get to the bottom of your skin issues. I’m not on the skincare threads here but I know they are very helpful. I am on a FB group for skin care and there are very many helpful people on there too. You can upload a photo and people will advise on what might help. I also think The Ordinary will advise if you send them a photo of your skin. Also Paula’s Choice will help with advice and they do mini sizes of most products so you can try without spending too much.

So many people have managed to improve their skin by figuring out what agrees with them and what ingredients don’t.

Hope you find something that helps.
