Preparation for Summer Holidays

Can I ask you lovely lot what you do or get done in preparation for your Summer holidays? I’ve a holiday coming up in June and for once I would love to go feeling good about myself instead of racing around making sure everyone’s packed & sorted! (All my own doing of course as my kids are well able to do it themselves.) I am envious of stylish travelers who appear laid back, put together & ready to enjoy their break.

I do the following:

Hair cut and colour two weeks in advance

Start body brushing/ extra moisturising fo legs about a month before.

Use foot file every day in run up to holiday

Shellac finger and toe nails

Think carefully about packing. I have a big try on session to check clothes still look good.

Plan travel outfit to look smart but comfortable. I love the Longchamp Neo in navy as a travel bag. It's light but still looks quite polished.

I love getting ready for holidays!!! Smile

Ooh thanks so much Karen! That’s so helpful. I stupidly didn’t get my colour done last year and I came home grey from the chlorine in the pool. Never again 😊

ooo, I am going away in June too, just started packing this weekend, and have done quite a bit. Packed most of the toiletries and some clothes, will do a bit every weekend. I have to try my dresses on and make sure they fit ok (I need to lose about 10 lbs) Shock I can do it if I put my mind to it and be strict!

I am having my hair blonde highlighted and cut next week and then again just before I go. I will tidy up my eyebrows myself and shave legs, cut toe and finger nail and file them just before I go. I have some Dove gradual tan that I want to start using too in the week before I go.

Cant wait now, where is everyone going? we are going to Cyprus for 2 weeks Grin

Wow you are super organised Alien. That’s probably half my problem, I don’t think about any of this until it’s too late. We are off to Portugal, my happy place Smile

We have a holiday in August (DH,DS ,DD and me)

My vague attempts at organising at the moment is
If I see something I like and I'll wear (which rules out anything spaghetti strapped and synethetic- just imagine the chafing and sweating on my menopausal skin) then I weigh up if I have anything to wear with it. If I really like it , bu it and buy something at the same times to go with it.

I'm off to buy sandles (I don't like buying shoes Sad )

And Sun Protection, scout out some BOGOFs

In progress:
Gym
Saunas
Bought the Korean towels today

I dye my own hair and have it cut every 5 weeks

DD pre-holiday plans though.......................................... lets just say , she PLANS Grin

I give each child old enough to pack a list of items they need, and it is their responsibility
Myself, I get my hair cut (colour it myself) two weeks before I go
Have started on feet anyway for summer, keep my finger nails neat anyway. May get pedicure a week before
Have started extra body scrubbing and moisturising, already made a difference
Going away in June, haven't started packing yet, but keeping an eye out for stuff to buy. Should probably get started

I would do plenty of body scrubs in the shower in the weeks before so your skin is smooth. Cut and colour 2 weeks before you go. Manicure (I don't bother as my nails are too weak) and Pedicure (essential) a day or two before you go.
This is my cheat - get a spray tan the day before you go. You will start the holiday looking relaxed and will feel great. I did it when I was pregnant with DC3 as I didn't think I would be able to handle the heat on holiday for the first few days and now I do it before each holiday - it really makes me feel good and I arrive at the airport feeling chilled and groomed.
Enjoy your holiday!!!
