Help me find an outfit for my graduation

Finally finished my degree and I graduate on 23rd march but I've no idea what to wear! I'm going shopping in Brighton on Saturday to look for something but any suggestions or inspiration would be amazing.

I'm 25, quite fair skin, blonde hair. Size 16 - most of my weight is on hips/thighs. Best features are my waist and boobs although not hugely chested (d/dd cup) 5ft9 but mostly legs -particularly hip to knee so finding outfits an acceptable length can be tricky.

Gown is navy blue, with baby blue and gold neck bit (it's the open university if you want to look at the graduation colours)

No real budget but don't want to spend more than £100 on a dress and will need shoes/jacket to go with it if any suggestions.

Thanks in advance-im clueless at what suits me and what is appropriate!!

something like this colour block contour dress:

My DD graduated recently - she wore a Jersey skater dress for comfort, no jacket (didn't fit with the robes) One of her friends wore a dress with a purple front panel and black sides/back with a v neck - it looked good with the robe. Wear comfy shoes. There was a dress code - no mini skirts etc but some people wore ridiculously high shoes and struggled with the stairs at the Brighton Dome. One friend wore a frilly shirt and was constantly adjusting her v neck collar thing so I think something simple would be best.

There is a Coast, Monsoon, French Connection, All Saints, Hobbs on East Street and Oasis up near Duke's Arcade - you could look at their websites first for ideas. Debenhams in the Churchill Centre might also be useful for your search.

Good luck

I’m a lecturer and attend graduation most years. Our students have to wear black and white, so check there’s no restrictions. A lot of the female students wear black dresses, and none of them wear jackets because the gown covers them anyway. Last year one girl looked amazing in black wide leg trousers, sharp white shirt, bright red block heeled Mary Janes, plus red lipstick.

At my DHs OU graduation last year most women seemed to wear quite plain, dark dresses. Some of them had the most amazing shoes though to make up for it.

I wore a blue dress with red heels, bag and lipstick as our trim was red.

Congratulations! I graduated with the OU in September, and it really is a great day.

I got a plain navy blue full skirted slightly fitted dress from Pretty Kitty. Ordered and delivered really quick.
