What to wear on my feet with wide leg trousers

Considering the winter weather, what type of shoe/boot would you wear with wide leg trousers - both smart and casual?

I've had enough of skinny jeans and wide legs are tempting me but i can't walk far in heels so need to be flats or slight heal

Zara have shoes and ankle boots with a block heal which I think would work.
