I have dark blonde hair. I’ve never dyed it. However I am rapidly going grey and want to cover the grey up.

What I want to do, is cover the grey with a slightly lighter than my hair is now blonde, but without changing the colour of my normal hair. Is such a thing possible? I don’t want to lighten my normal hair so I don’t want anything with peroxide in it (I think anyway!)

I have no idea where to even start! Can anyone recommend some products to try?

Eek - will leave to more knowledgeable posters to comment, but I would at least go to a good hairdressers for a free consultation for ideas

I dye my hair at home.
I usually get a nutrisse one from Sainsbury's - just look for one that says colours grey and is permanent
I dye my hair in the bath as easier than messing about over a sink.
Recommend buying a pack of plastic gloves as the ones that come with the dye are always too small.
I used to worry about getting it on my skin but even when I have it has come off without a problem.

Normally you would start with a semi permanent - which washes out over time. However, it only really covers what are called ‘first greys’

Yes, I’m getting my hair cut this week so I’ll ask the hairdresser about it too. Maybe I’ll get the hairdresser to do it the first time rather than attempting it myself.

You can put Vaseline round your hairline and that will prevent staining

This is my question too OP.

I'm about to dye my hair (not for the first time but the last time I did it I was a teenager and dyed it purple!!)

I've noticed some greys and want to dye it before they become obvious, but I don't want to change my hair colour.

I think, as long as there's no peroxide and you use a slightly lighter colour than natural, it should be fine. Should be... Grin
