Beauty advice for the bewildered

I was in danger of crashing someone else’s beauty advent calendar thread, so I’ve done the decent thing and started my own thread.

This is for the beauty product bewildered who are encountering new products in advent calendars, gift sets and so on who have no idea how to use them.

Yesterday I stocked up on my usual Bourjois foundation and powder in Superdrug to get the free gift (full size mascara, red lippy and matching nail polish) and then again in the nearby Boots to get the other free gift (full size highlighter, nudey pink lippy and polish, mascara). I have no idea what the highlighter is for - it comes in a bottle like foundation (link below). Can anyone point me in the right direction? YouTube videos or the like. I have no idea...

Bourjois highlighter

I've never used that one but I put a tiny bit of highlighter on cheekbones and brow bones. Go easy and blend well as it can otherwise look weirdly pale and sparkly in the light.

I think you can also mix a couple of drops in with your foundation? Again, use sparingly. You don't want to be a human strobe.

Thanks Ilost. I cracked it open and rubbed it on the back of my hand, so have realised it is shimmery. It smells lovely, a bit like melon. I also had a look on the internet, so have a bit of an idea now. I may just use it on my decolletage over the party season.

The highlighter would work well on the cheeks and eye bones.

I was fortunate there was an assistant replenishing shelves nearby in Boots as the pink set wasn’t on display. I asked nicely and she checked the stock drawer below - I got the last one.
