I get an enhancement system of hair, due to hair loss. It is similar to extensions but with some differences.

Anyway, the hair I have recently had fitted is very dry and looks shit. I've only had it 3 weeks. The salon won't tell customers where they source it's hair/what it is.

Is this acceptable/normal/legal?

Yes?

The hair could be matted and dry for a number of reasons including bad aftercare as #1. I would go back to the salon and discuss the current condition of the hair and see if there’s anything they can do to help, but I don’t think you’re entitled to anything

Wouldn’t you have researched the salon and clarified what hair they use before getting it done? Sounds like they may have used a cheaper brand, as salons usually state if they use ‘BeautyWorks hair’ etc as part of their advertising. However this is only a problem if they state they used X hair but used Y hair instead, the cheaper hair can still be decent

Well to be absolutely honest I didn't research the hair, I researched the hair system method, as I was attending for hair loss. I had never had hair extensions before, so wasn't sure what to expect. I have been going for a while (2 years)and the first hair was great. Second hair ok but not great. This hair is so dry. I know how to look after it.,,,wash it once a week, keep heat to a minimum, don't use straighteners, use salon products formulated for extensions. Am very careful when I wash it. It isn't my fault. I looked after the other hair just fine.

There are complaints about this salon all over the internet but what they do is relatively niche, so it's hard to shop around.

It almost feels like they give you great hair at the outset on purpose and then deliberately go cheap. This hair has the same feel as a cuttings on the salon floor would. It can't be remy or double drawn.

I don't know what my rights are.

I've had it 3 weeks.
