What do cool pre teen boys wear?!?

My yr 4 boy tells me the lovely boden kit I’ve bought him this year is not cool, now he’s 8. So what are the cool kids wearing? Do I need to go to JD sports and buy shiny matching tracksuits and Nike trainers?

Beyond not loving what I’ve got him, my son is equally clueless! Dressing him so far has been super easy he always wears what I put out....younger son more tricky!

My ultra cool yr 6 boy wears long sleeved shirts with or without a band t-shirt over the top, skinny jeans and vans /dms. But I appreciate there are many different kinds of cool!

My DS is equally clueless but I aim for H&M and that seems to be ok most of the time.

Sounds cool! I just don’t know - he’s been all about comfort until now - combats and joggers and hoodies - shorts all summer! He hasn’t worn jeans in ages.

My eldest two 8+9 years old mainly wear football shirts and joggers, sometimes plain others are nike or addidas. I tend to buy the branded stuff when on sale so under £15 a pair

Take him to H&M or Zara and let him choose.

I was thinking I might have to take him shopping with me from now on - the horror!! I’m hoping we can jazz up the fairly newly bought stuff this winter with a few new things, and ongoing he can choose.

Selecting an outfit has not been a particularly strong point so far...we will see!!

Zara (mainly for skinny jeans) and Abercrombie and Fitch (hoodies and t shirts)
Occasional t shirt from super dry or h & m
He likes shirts for smarter wear from Ralph Lauren (flannels) or Zara do some really nice jackets and collarless shirts as well.

My ten yr old has gone from adorable Boden to hideous sports labels - a t shirt with a big neon Nike logo is his current favourite.

Ditto Nike trainers from bloody Sports Direct.

On smart occasions I get him into a nice shirt with collar and a navy Ralph Lauren tank top, but other than it is a nightmare!

My 8 year old has spent the last couple of years in football kits and joggers, refusing jeans at all costs. I replaced all the too short joggers in the next sale, but of course, he is now refusing them in favour of ripped, super skinny jeans, hype style t shirts and Nike hoodies. We are shown various 'trainers I would like when I grow out of these' on a daily basis! He is also reluctant to give up the summer shorts, both for school and home.

My DS in year 6 wears a Stone Island coat (fake as the real ones are over £300!)

He wears Nike or Adidas trainers

Tracksuit bottoms, T-Shirts and hoodies have to be Nike, Adidas, Hype or North Face.

Mix and matching is not considered cool so if he wears Adidas trainers the rest has to be Adidas as well. Also everything has to be the same colour. It doesn't seem to matter which colour but the outfit needs to be as monotone as possible.

I thought it was just DS being odd but honestly all pre teen kids around here do the same they are like little clones!

DS 9 wears
Tapered or skinny jeans/joggers
Sports branded t shirts or hoodies
High top trainers or van style shoes

Zara, h and m, sports direct are my go to shops. He will tolerate flannel shirts worn over and open plain t- shirts.

Ds is 10 and I don't know that he's cool but he seems to be very popular which is odd because he can be a right moody sod and he mainly wears football tops and joggers. He won't wear skinny jeans because they're itchy apparently Hmm but most of his friends were skinny jeans and no socks - skinny jeans also end at ankle and look hideous. Hyper hoodies also popular. Ds does not seem to care that he doesn't dress the same as his peers but perhaps than will change. I personally wish he'd smarten up a bit but the half mast skinny jeans are hideous too so...

DS 9 wears skinny jeans, Nike or Adidas trainers and usually something like a top or hoodie from converse or Abercrombie and Fitch. I do usually buy in the sale or on eBay though.

Not sure that ds (8) is very cool but switching from boden stuff to taking him to H&M to choose has done the trick. He has very wide feet though so shoes/trainers are hard to find.
