Is casual acceptable at weddings

I'm planning as a guest for summer wedding, beginning of August wedding. I really want to avoid looking like I'm off to ladies day at ascot. I hate the tight fitted Lacey dresses and wiggle dresses. I have quite an eclectic taste and I'm always just a little bit scruffy, be it my hair or clothes (sounds weird, I know). I was looking at a floaty midi dress that goes in at waist with a bright bold print and some clashing heels and a vintage clutch, it might come across a bit boho!! Would you deem that acceptable or do you think weddings are the type of do that requires a more polished look ?

I think it is totally fine to dress in the way that you like and feel comfortable with. It's not like you are planning to turn up in old jeans and a fleece.

Boho is fine, you just need to look like you've made an effort. Heels and a vintage clutch do that.

I'm assuming that you know the couple who are inviting you, so they will know your style. What you are describing sounds lovely, especially the vintage clutch (love a vintage bag me).

I agree with pp, you absolutely don't need to go down the standard Ted Baker/Royal Ascot route - which is all I've seen at the last couple of weddings I've been to - just look like you've made an effort.

Boho and what you describe is fine. I saw someone at a recent wedding in a baggy t shirt and scruffy trousers and he stood out like a sore thumb.
