Petite straight leg trousers or dark jeans for work

Where would I be able to find straight leg style jeans that are decent quality but not expensive? I used to buy my jeans from Topshop but everything is skinny or super skinny which doesn't really suit me.
Levi's are far too expensive and the quality has gone downhill as my 501s from the 90s are in better condition than the ones I bought about a year ago!

I am only 5' 2" so probably unlikely to find anything without having to take them up anyway. I'd like to know where people of similar size buy theirs please and would you recommend them?

Thanks in advance.

I can't wear jeans to work so my staple cheap straight leg trousers are from new look, I have loads of them which I wear on rotate so I don't wear them out too quickly.

Other than that I've become friendly with a local independent clothes shop and she sources my dark skinny jeans for me?

Thanks for the reply.

I never thought of New Look but there is one in town so I may venture there. Do you find them durable enough and do they manage to retain their colour after washing?

I wash and iron them inside out to avoid that shiny shine. At £17 a pair I have 5 and then wear trousers approx 3 times a week at work.

Never though of matalan...

I've just this week popped into Next and nothing trouser wise there but tops... I bought some really nice summer tops in there.

ASOS is good for a range of petite brands. Otherwise Gap or Boden petite. M&S do petite trousers/jeans as well.

For trousers-Real straight (or True Straight, can't remember) from GAP. Petite is available online only.

I have four pairs of smart work trousers - all from Mango. I'm 5ft and didn't need to have the length taken up. They sit at about ankle or a cm below. I find the quality better than Tesco or New Look (the black isn't 'sparkly' if you see what I mean).

It depends in part on what suits - Boden and Wallis P don't fit me at all (too big on hips).

Most dry cleaners will take the length up for you.

Boden has a huge range of petite clothes. As with all shops, some suit me and some don't. I find that the trousers are generally too straight up and down for me (big hips and thighs), but their jersey dresses are generally an excellent fit (I have a small chest, bit of a tummy, large hips and thighs, size 10-12).

Gap Petite have a huge range too, online only, but you can return to store for an instant refund onto the card you paid with. I find their fit quite generous. It is the only shop where I am a 10 on the bottoms. Huge range of trousers, make sure you buy with a money off code.

Next petite are ok for jeans, I've found, especially their high waisted ones. But I don't think their quality of trousers would be good enough for me for work.

M and S petite are hit and miss for me. I check their stock online all the time to see what has come in new. I've been quite lucky in the past with jeans and work trousers, but the stock is variable. They have a good range of sizes and styles and lengths though. I am 5 foot 1 inch and I vary between their short and standard lengths. Their extra short is way too short for me.

Other stores with petite ranges are Dorothy perkins, wallis, new look, petite collection in Debenhams and principles in Debenhams, and asos.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will have a trawl on the websites first and a look in the high street sometime.
