straighteners as good as GHDs?

So my almost 10 year old GHDs have finally packed in. With a little one on the way I am starting to be more careful with money and think that perhaps I really don't need £120 straighteners but then there is a tiny part of me that is a little snobby when it comes to electronics and I tend to think the pricier the better! Can anyone suggest a brand under the £60-80 mark that you think are just as good? My hair isn't particularly thick or wild. It is naturally sort of wavy and frizzy. I rarely have my hair dead straight but rather just run the straighteners through it to calm it down a bit. Thanks in advance!

My GHD 3.1Bs are still working but I bought Cloud Nine to see how the current competition are. Got the Cloud Nines and they are good. Better than current models of GHD. Bought the Lagoon V two years back and they were so much worse than my ancient pair.

She straighteners are better than ghd's, half the price and mine have been going since 2003. One of the best things I have ever bought Smile

I have a cheap set of Remingtons that I've had for about 4 years and they're really excellent. I bought them as a temporary measure until I could afford to replace my GHDs (which lasted less than 2 years) but have just kept on using them because frankly they're miles better!

Another vote for she straighteners here and in a hairdresser.
We use cloud 9 in salon which are good but over price budget.
We ditched ghd years ago as they're made In the same factory as most of the cheaper versions now and don't last as well as most.
I paid £45 for a pair of she straighteners about 8 years ago and they're still going strong.
Don't straighten mine every day but most days and dd has long thick curly hair so I do hers once a week on a Sunday after a hair mask and it stays straight till Friday 😀

thanks all!

Cloud9 are around the same price as GHDs. I went with a £20 pair of Remingtons. I was willing to spend up to £80 but they had really amazing reviews on the argos website so I'll see how they go and if they are rubbish I can return them and pay a bit more for a better pair

Babyliss are brilliant according to my daughter and her very very long thick hair. Much better than the GHDs which packed up after only seven months use.

I think those are the ones I have porterine! I figured for £20 I might as well give them a shot and there still going strong several years later.

So my £20 remmingtons arrived today and they're really good! They don't glide as smoothly as my GHDs but they straighten really well and as I say I never have my hair poker straight- more just to make it look a little tamer. Saved myself £100 there!

Agree with Foofighter no need to spend a fortune, the babyliss pro are brilliant, much better than GHD. They slide through the hair much easier and in my opinion leave the hair a lot smoother and straighter. The rrp is about £70 but they are always on amazon for around £40.
