Package disappointment

Just had another package of clothes delivered, just stuck them all back in the box to be returned AGAIN.

I'm not getting anywhere with clothes shopping at the moment. I'm trying to get some relaxed jeans or trousers for spring/summer, a few t shirts and maybe a couple of dresses. Hardly anything fits- I'm either drowned in it or my legs look like sausages bursting out of their casings (sometimes both simultaneously) or the stuff that fits just looks crap. So far I've managed a pair of trainers, a sun hat and a sports bra. I'm in my early 30s and a size 10, it shouldn't be this hard!

I'm pretty rural so whilst going to a city to actually try stuff on is possible, it's a big hassle. Also, last time I tried that I felt a bit overwhelmed by everything and just ended up buying Spider-Man pjs for the kids . I have become de skilled at shopping.

Can someone send me a load of nice clothes please? I think the post people and couriers are getting a bit fed up of coming here!

I'm virtually on first name terms with all our postmen which is a bit embarrassing when there's DPD, Hermes, DHL and UPS rocking up day after day!

Which shops have you been trying? What height are you - do you need petite stuff if you're drowning in things?

ASOS and Zalando are good if you want to be able to try on a range of brands.

Other Stories have nice stuff with a bit of unusual detailing. Boden I like for plain summer dresses (not the wacky prints).

All these have really good delivery and returns set ups so are headache free. Just keep ordering stuff until you find what you need!

I'm 5'2 and a bit so a bit short, but sometimes petite is too short. Sizing is so inconsistent even within the same shop, I end up ordering multiple sizes then have considerable assets tied up in returns. I might have to wait until pay day (or the refunds come in) before I can order anything else now.

I'm sacking off the boyfriend jeans. I think once you've tried 10 pairs of something and none of them work you just have to admit defeat!

Try the Next cropped bootcut jeans. They sound naff but are very flattering as they are looser on the leg then the flare bit balances out leg chunk whilst showing off a slim ankle. Dress them down with converse and slouchy t-shirts and size down. They do them in petite.

I don't normally get much joy from Next but my other find is their khaki utility jacket. It works with everything and is surprisingly warm. Buy normal size.

Also great is their longline vests which mean you can layer up any length of tops with them and carry on wearing skinnies.

I also like slim leg jeans rolled up- looser than skinnies but not as unflattering as boyfriend cut.

I think rolled up straight legs could work. Does the flare of the bootcuts stick out? I think I want them a bit more taperd in the calf (though willing to try alternatives since nothing so far has worked).

No it doesn't wang out weirdly/massively- very flattering and the frayed hems look current and help loosen the look up if you wear it with a smarter jumper etc. Worth a try- I thought they looked weird on the models when I first saw them but they translate better onto a more ordinary frame.
