Home hair dye over hair salon har dye?

Helloo!
I have mousey brown hair with blond highlights. My roots are beginning to show and with Easter I reckon the chances of my getting them done any time soon are nil.
Can I use a dye out of the box without fear of green or will something bad happen?
I just need a bit of ash blonde to get me through the next few weeks.
My roots are mousey so spray on stuff does nothing.

If you put an ash blonde over the blonde it could turn green and on your brown roots it could pull some ginger tones!
I would wait it out
