Moisturiser recommendations for dry but oily, acne prone skin

Wondered whether any of you have good recommendations for moisturiser for skin that can get very dry post cleansing (even with the mildest cleansers) but parts of my face only have to look at moisturiser to become horribly oily. Add to that my skin's tendency to break out and I'm at my wits end with moisturisers. They're either not moisturising enough for the dry areas or they turn my t-zone into an oil slick.

I'm currently using two different ones from Clinique - Dramatically Different and Mositure Surge. I like moisture surge but sometimes it's not moisturising enough, whilst dramatically different has a definite oil slick effect even when I use a tiny amount.

Also if you have any tips on dealing with this problem in general I'd be really grateful!

I found exactly the same with the dramatically different moisturiser but love the Clinique redness solutions daily relief cream, it really moisturises my dry patches but is oil free so doesn't make my skin oilier. Looks lovely and matte all day!

Sali Hughes says excellent things about dehydrated vs dry skin. Dehydrated is a lack of water whereas dry is a lack of oil and she says the two need to be tackled differently.

So mine is oily and dehydrated (I break out, get v v oily half way through but my skin looks at its best when wet eg out of the shower but is desperate for moisture/feels parched as soon as I dry my face).

Might this be the case for you? If so, Sali has an excellent YouTube channel where se examines this extensively. Essentially look out for products with hyaluronic acid or glycerin in - they will grab on to the water and hold it there while not adding oil to your face or making it break out.

Dermatologica medibac spf moisturiser , only spf ive been able to use without breaking out! Also currently using neals yard palmarosa for oily/spot prone skin cleanser and moisturiser and my skin currently looks lovely - both expensive but have lasted for aaaasggeesss!! You can get tester packs for both so give them a try x

I like Vichy Aqualia serum followed by the Clinique redness relief moisturiser mentioned above. Not sure it makes any difference to my redness but I love the texture.

Agree with PPs, as you have said the key is balancing the dryness / dehydration with the risk of oiliness / redness. Sometimes I am more successful at this than other times .

Lush is good and if you go in they will give you advice. I've also had good results with Aveda and Clinique anti redness. Currently I use a Lush face wash and Olay Total Effects anti blemish. It used to be sold in Boots but now I have to buy it on Amazon. Dreading it being discontinued!

The dry vs dehydrated makes a lot of sense and it sounds like my skin is very similar to yours. I might try Clinique anti redness for starters as a few of you mentioned it so must be worth a try
