Is this top ( hate this word) mumsy?

Showed a friend and she said it was.
Wanted to ask your opinions.
We are both 37.

LaundryQueenHatesIroning Fri 03-Feb-17 18:03:07

Hmmm. I quite like it and I'm 33. What would you wear it with?

Bluntness100 Fri 03-Feb-17 18:04:12

It depends on what you wear it with and your shape I think. I think on a teenager not, on someone older it had the potential.

QueenMortificado Fri 03-Feb-17 18:05:12

With a tight leather skirt, no.

With a pair of slightly too short bootcut black trousers and M&S sensible heel boots, yes.

doghairinmytea Fri 03-Feb-17 18:07:59

I think it also depends on the size of your norks. It would look matronly on my ample chest.

TheCustomaryMethod Fri 03-Feb-17 18:13:14

It doesn't look very well cut. It's not even flattering to the model's bust, so doubtful it would look good on anyone else.

I don't like the cuffs but I love the print and high neck.

HoHumming Fri 03-Feb-17 18:30:13

Ummmm. I agree with your friend.

I don't like pattern in white/ivory.
I don't like the trumpet cuffs as they are just a nod to fashion but are not dramatic enough to be fashionable.
The body is too boxy looking.

Aworldofmyown Fri 03-Feb-17 18:31:17

Not mumsy, just not really that nice. Sorry.

dylexicdementor11 Fri 03-Feb-17 18:40:27

It's a bit 'clowny'.

puglife15 Fri 03-Feb-17 19:05:37

Not mumsy but looks cheap and not very stylish to me.

PickAChew Fri 03-Feb-17 19:08:35

It's twee and shapeless and the fabric looks too flimsy for the style.

tooclosetocall Fri 03-Feb-17 19:09:13

Love the (bell?) sleeves but not the neckline.
I don't think it's 'mumsy' per se but I don't think it would enhance anyone either tbf.

Thanks for the answers 😃

I really like it and would wear it under a sleeveless dress or something like that, instead of a roll neck. I love the bell sleeves and I like the cutesy look. It could look mumsy if you frumped it up but if you are not frumpy or mumsy then it won't. Yes to the bootcut ankle biters and mum boot. Even a size 6 catwalk model would look mumsy in those! 😂

SinglePringle Sun 05-Feb-17 08:02:49

What's the fabric? Could make or break it.

Silk? Not frumpy.
Viscose / polyester? Frump.

BusterGonad Sun 05-Feb-17 08:04:36

The skirt they've teamed it with is hideous!!!

Ulysses Sun 05-Feb-17 08:09:45

I'm not fussed for the polka dots but otherwise I quite like and would consider it in another print. I think it would look fine with slim trousers and heels.

WilburIsSomePig Sun 05-Feb-17 09:27:26

Not very well cut and I think may be uncomfortable to wear. It's pulling across the bust of the model.

JournosAreLazy Sun 05-Feb-17 09:29:43

I think the only thing this would look mildly ok with is a tight fitting pencil skirt for work. Would look terrible with jeans.

tovelitime Sun 05-Feb-17 10:41:27

I really like it. I would wear it with black skinniest or pleather skinnies and boots
