I've done it again. I've bought another ugly skirt from Monsoon.

I get carried away when they're reduced. And I think "gosh, that's practical for work!"

So, it's stretchy t-shirt material, maxi, side splits to knee, straight, waste tie thing (like ornamental belt). And it's black, with a blueish, greenish floral design. Slightly Liberty, but not.

My question: is there any way to make this stylish? What should I wear it with?

I've tried to find a pic of it online but can't.

Really cant say without seeing it. Take a pic and let's have a look

Did this work?

ArseyTussle Mon 30-Jan-17 11:37:28

I'd say if you were strolling about in the sunshine wearing exactly what you're wearing in that photo you'd look fine. It's not really my taste but I was expecting a howler from your description!

ArseyTussle Mon 30-Jan-17 11:38:05

I'd say it was only practical for work if you're a Thai fisherman. grin

imjessie Mon 30-Jan-17 11:42:27

Arsey that made me chuckle .. are maxi skirts good for work ? I would have said only if black and worn with boots ? I don't work though so maybe not an expert 🤔

SharingMichelle Mon 30-Jan-17 11:47:58

Lol. Am not a Thai fisherman. I'm a teacher in a very conservative country.

But forget work. Can i make it stylish? At all? In any way?

SharingMichelle Mon 30-Jan-17 11:49:07

Also, i hope everyone appreciates my efforts at tummy sucking in, in pic 3.

Braceybracegirl Mon 30-Jan-17 11:49:40

Can you take it back? You are very slim with a lovely figure!

SharingMichelle Mon 30-Jan-17 12:22:55

Oh dear Bracey. I've worn it now. Oh well.
And thank you. I was a size 16 a year an a half ago.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen Mon 30-Jan-17 12:25:10

I think it's lovely and summery but not sure the split is suitable if you're meant to be conservative? Lovely for the beach though.

Manumission Mon 30-Jan-17 12:25:33

I like it. But not for work.

franke Mon 30-Jan-17 12:28:15

I also think it's fine, but not for work. It's your summer wardrobe.

BusterGonad Mon 30-Jan-17 12:36:18

Arsey 😂
Op great tummy sucking in, do you happen to work in the Middle East???

BabyHamster Mon 30-Jan-17 12:38:31

I think it would be fine on holiday or on the beach. With a vest top. Really not sure how you could wear it to work though!

OlennasWimple Mon 30-Jan-17 12:41:24

NSFW but a lovely casual skirt when it's hot

SharingMichelle Mon 30-Jan-17 12:42:26

Gosh I am out of touch.

Right. Beachy, summery skirt it is.

2014newme Mon 30-Jan-17 12:44:06

In the evening on holiday strolling the promenade with a cocktail. With wedge sandals.
But not for work.

SirChenjin Mon 30-Jan-17 12:44:24

There's not a thing to be done OP sad

You need to now book a foreign holiday around the skirt, I think.

FuckOffDailyMailQuitQuotingMN Mon 30-Jan-17 12:46:34

😂 this skirt demands a holiday. Have fun!

"... but darling, Mumsnet told me I had to... it's not like I had a choice!... What? Oh, that's Juan, the barkeep... lovely chap... he complimented my skirt!..."

Autumntactics Mon 30-Jan-17 12:52:19

I wondered who bought stuff from Monsoon these days....

Laiste Mon 30-Jan-17 12:56:58

I'd wear it with a simple black strappy vest top and flip flops on your days off when it's hot.

Long tube skirts are really comfy when it's hot and you're just bumming about the house.

I ended up with permaknee in the last one I had from Monsoon! Not a good look when you stand up!
