Interiors open plan

Evening all would be interior designers ( ie someone who has bought a good home mag once!) and anyone who likes looking at house decor.

I am trying to find a website of pictures or ideas for kitchen/lounge designs open plan.

I hope to do up 4 small flats and no where can i find inspiration.

Can you go and view somee new builds? Or send for their brouchures to give you ideas?

What aspects did you like Hulababy ?.

I am thinking of putting the washing machines in the store room so the kitchen has a dishwasher. Good idea ?

Flooring the same throughout or a seperate tile area are not sure yet.

I will check out the competition and visit armed with camera

v good idea to keep washingmachine somewhere else - they're v noisy in an openplan space. Only do it if plumbing won't be an utter pain though.

Thanks MrsBadger picture three is good neutral magnolia walls as it cheap and then off white units.

I want the kitchen to fit in but not be predominant as its a multipurpose room.

For a modern look I would go for white rather than magnolia. Pretty much all the more expensive and more modern new build apartments we viewed we white - it looks much cleaner. And keep all flooring very plain and neutral also.

Our kitchen units were beech with a dark worksurface and stainless steel fittings. Kitchen was integrated. Very neutral although I actually would have prefered a more modern kitchen - maybe a high gloss white or red finish.

Ohhh I like the use of accent colour in that apartment.

I did a soft roman stone colour and cream in the last kitchens I did up.

This one is much smaller so I think more design has to go into it. The plans I have show a corner sink and one row of units. Though I think the stand alone cupboard that can house ironing and vacuum would be wise.

Dishwasher very good selling point!

Our washer/dryer was in the same room and it really wasn't a problem TBH. We tended to put it on at night time or when out mainly anyway.

Our apartment living space was pretty large with 2 windows and a balcony - the lightness really was great.

Okay soft gloss units as it won`t date
white walls. Soft green glass splashback and upstand. Stainless appilances. Dark worktop too much ??. Building up a good mental picture.

Maybe green spring colours as accent in lounge/kichen cushions on beige sofa.

Downlighters and central light or all downlighters ??

Roman blind in neutral shades.

Sounds good. Would recommend going to a decent bookshop and having a browse too, Borders usually has good selection of Design books. Have never lived in an open plan place but would think about creating a laundy/utility space sectioned off or a separape room (in Scandinavia they dedicate cellars to this even in communal blocks of flats). I think washing machine running and then washing on airers drying would def spoil the uncluttered look. Lots of storage (prob behind full height doors) also prob necessary....

Yes, if possible have storage. Our apartment had a cupboard in our bedroom - could have benn made into a single door wardrobe if we'd gotten round to it. Also airing cupboard in entrance hall had enough room to house ironing board and hoover. Could have done with more if possible though - but difficult if you don't want to compromise on size elsewhere TBH.

I have four of those splashbacks so good thing already. Lovely amount of light in the flat really makes the space open up.

Thats why I like roman blinds to keeps it clean and simple.

The downlighters work. I also like the deep colour of the door modern.

The down lighter spots in the kitchen were great. We also had additional lights inder the wall units. There was no main light in the living area - we had 3 wall lights instead, keeping it all neutral and open.

Panacotta, There is hopefully going to be a store for two washing machines and two dryers and a worktop for folding etc...

I also want to buy a book recommended by another mnters called Hideaways, Huts and havens. So I`ll look at some maybe swedish style books. Which would also work on the white theme with maybe white and blue that is very Gustavian style.
