My friend is 50 after Xmas
Although I don't wear makeup that much I love nice makeup but DH buys it for Xmas. Either a clinique gift set or Elizabeth Arden
She commented when we were out how good my makeup looked compared to hers
So I would like to get her nice make up
What would you suggest for a nice starter set up to around£50

I think trying to guess somebody's colouring and skin tone is really hard so how about booking her a make up session (normally free) at a department store plus a £50 voucher so that she can choose whatever stuff looks best? (That's what I'd like someone to do for me Wink)

I like Bobbi Brown - staff are very approachable.

Yes true getting makeup for someone else is difficult unless you get generic sets like earthy tones of eyeshadow palette which suits most people, lipsticks can be tricky because of colour preference and finish. Ysl does like a mascara makeup remover set.

I agree with previous poster bobbi brown is always good, nars, charlotte tilbury..

Buying makeup for someone else is tricky and I would start with the right tools rather than stressing about choosing the right colour palette. Speaking as a 50 something I would say you can't go wrong with this
