LRP Effecular and other questions for acne-prone skin

I've been getting terrible hormone related cystic acne for the last six months and its been getting increasingly worse. (I had terrible acne in my mid 20s treated with the pill (can't use anymore) and topical antibiotics (only short term treatment; no longer an option).)

So I looked on the skincare ingredients thread - so enlightening! I'm using La Roche Posey Effecular twice a day for last week and the difference has been amazing. My skin does not hurt, nor is it red and irritated. I could cry with relief that something is working at last.

Any suggestions for an spf moisturiser for the day time that compliments the Effecular and is good for acne-prone skin?

Should I take a break from the Effecular after eg a month or two? Will I become 'immune' to it with overuse?

I'm mid 30s and seeing more fine lines creeping in (a lovely mix with acne ). Would a retinoid treatment be ok for night times? I got on with a cheap Garnier vitamin c based 'dark spot corrector' but suspect it was a 'weak solution' that degraded so stopped being effective.

I don't exfoliate except with a flannel with a cleanse with oil. Nothing special just very cheap and cheerful!

I'm using retin a bought off eBay, my age spots are fading fast but I'm still breaking out in spots, I expect to until the new year TBH.

Lrp do an oil free sun block, there's several to choose from.

Dd has used the Effaclar now for about 18mths (on her 4th tube I think) Like you she says the difference has been drastic. I don't think she has had any breaks, but nor has she had many break-outs!

Thanks both for the replies. I might let my skin have a moment of calm with the Effeclar before I add a retinal. Good to know other people have kept at it with no ill effects

The body shop skin defence is a brilliant SPF. Very light, great under makeup. I've only bought using a discount codes so it's cheap but there's always a discount code tbh

I know people recommend the cerave am cleanser which has spf, though I haven't used it myself.
