I've recently bought this dress for a graduation: emilyandfin.co.uk/product/ada-dress-festive-fireworks - and am a little stuck on the tights/shoes question. I normally have no problem at all with a navy dress + black tights and black shoes (sorry, to those who hold to this rule!) but the event is reasonably formal, and am wondering whether this will still work. Navy shoes are an option, but matching shades of navy always seems quite difficult to me - and then what tights would you wear?
I also probably need to wear a cardigan as spending some time outside (briefly) - again, I normally go for navy dress, black cardigan, but keen for any suggestions of something else that would look good!
I'm really just looking for new/different ideas. To complicate matters, I am going to be wearing wearing academic robes in a horrible burgundy colour for at least some of the event - so contrasting colours (green, pink etc.) may not be an option, as then there would be 3 colours (navy, burgundy + something else) going on all at once, which would not be ideal.
