Quick skincare question

I'm off for a weekend this weekend for my 40th.
I wouldn't say I have awful skin (certainly improved since quitting the fags). I'm thinking off a face mask beforehand (used before so I know I shouldn't react). My query is how many days before the event should I do it for optimal effect?

I really like overnight masks? So, I'd use it the evening before the event.

However, cells are continually turning over. Skin replaces itself competely ever 27 days, I think. So, if you're thinking long term starting 27days before the event might be good...?

I only have 5 days. I'll go for the night before then. There's no massive problems to overcome. I just want optimal smoothness to put makeup over.
